Before anyone gets the vapors, this is not a WW II collectible M1 Carbine. It's a Kahr/Auto Ordinance version. Nice gun, shoots well, in case anyone wants to know.

Anyway, I'm thinking of mounting a scope on it since my eyesight is, well, old.

Looking at scope mount options, I see three variations.

1) The type that mounts in the rear sight dovetail. This requires removing the rear sight and so the iron sights are gone.

2) Scout rifle mount that replaces the upper handguard.

3) A very nice Weaver style mount that looks like it requires either drilling and tapping the left side of the receiver or attaching to the stock next next to the receiver.

I'm kind of leaning towards 3, but I'm not sure yet. From the picture of the mount I've seen and looking at the stock, it's possible I could drill the stock and use "T nuts" set into the wood. The alternate would be to see if I can find a good gunsmith that can drill and tap the receiver.

Does anyone have any experience with mounting a scope on a M1 Carbine?

Thanks.

I had a B square on a Plainfield. The scope sits pretty high and I had more of what chin weld on the comb
Khar makes their own scout mount style. It's ok but $$$?
