I took my Mosin Nagant PU sniper to the range last week.
I reloaded some ammo with 4 different loads to see how she performed.

Load data:
S&B brass trimmed back to 53.45mm
S&B LR primers
182 gn Prvi Partisan FMJBT bullet in cal .311
4 different loads of VihtaVuori N110: 27.2 / 27.4 / 27.6 and 27.8 gn.
COL: 76.5mm

First 3 loads didn't group at all.
The first 3 rounds with the 27.8 gn load grouped nicely.
Numbers 4 to 10 drifted all the way to the right. [sad]
I checked everything.....I thought....
When I got home I remembered that I hadn't checked the glass. [sad2] [crying] [sad2]
All 3 screws that hold the glass in the mount were loose.
No wonder the last 6 rounds drifted to the right.

I reloaded 40 new ones this evening using the same brass, bullet and primers.
Only one load: 28 gn of VihtaVuori N110, but 4 different seating depths this time.
75.0mm / 74.5mm / 74.0mm and 73.5mm.
Got some range time coming up this Sunday.
I'll let you know how she performed.

Oh....some pictures ofcourse.

Thanks for your replies.
Well............didn't go to the range last Sunday.
Totally forgot that it was "FATHERSDAY". [shocked]
My daughters didn't forget though. [smile]

So.....got to wait untill next weekend.

@ 55_grain.
I bought this rifle a couple of weeks ago in Germany and took it to the range the same day using milsurp ammo.

It took me exactly 16 rounds to get her on target.....FANTASTIC
Been thinking about keep using milsurp ammo, but it's too expensive over here and I like reloading too much, so...........gotta keep testing until I have found the right load behind the right bullet. [smile]

I'll keep you all posted.

OK....went to the range this morning.
I made 4 sets of 10 cartridges.
Each set had a load of 28 grains of VihtaVuori N110, but a different seating depth.
I worked down from 75mm, 74.5mm, 74mm to 73.5mm.
Long story short....the shorter the cartridge, the smaller the group.
The group was still to big and a bit to the right, but I'm getting there.
When the group is small enough, I will start adjusting the scope.

Next trip to the range is planned for next week Sunday.
Ammo is ready and so am I.
I'll keep you posted.

Met vriendelijke groet,

Martin
