OK, I got the Lyman 48th and the first thing I did was to go to those calibers
I reload to check out the info. What I came across further confused me. In
each of the calibers, except .44 Rem Mag, the lead bullet gets sized up .001".
In the .44 Rem Mag caliber it doesn't. It remains .429", the same as the grove
diameter. What gives? Now that I have 500 .430" bullets, are they not usable
in this caliber?

TBP,
It is always appropriate to size your lead bullets at least .001 over the size of your barrel.
That is why most of the experienced cast bullet shooters drive a soft lead ball through the barrel to get the exact size to work up from. If the bullets are exactly bore size, you will probably not get a perfect seal and the blowby will likely cause some leading. Even if the bullet were sized .002 or .003 oversize, it would probably not raise the pressures dangerously, assuming that the loaded cartridge still chambers freely and you start with the recommended starting loads.
