Last week, Bay County Circuit Judge Joseph K. Sheeran made a controversial decision in dismissing a local man's felony weapons charge on the grounds that the state law he allegedly broke violates the Second Amendment.
Sheeran on Thursday dismissed a charge of possession of a stun gun or Taser against Dean S. Yanna, 41, of Bay City. The charge is punishable by up to four years in prison.

Though a Bay City man is no longer facing a potential four years in prison for carrying a stun gun, his case likely will become the focus of an appeal process that could go all the way to the state Supreme Court.
