De Blasio Really Has An Issue With A Basic American Right

My parents are from Hungary. We talk about all the crazy shit that is going in this country every day we are together. My dad told me that this country was unbelievable when they came here in the early sixties; about as close to perfect as he could ever imagine. They loved this place. Today, the things he sees in this country are very similar to what he grew up in. Only difference is that back then a heavily armed russian army was used, compared to today, where our government is using law (for now anyway).

My dad, just the other day, said it is just a matter of time before the government is going to take a look at everyone's home, say it is much too large for your family and will force you to have a strange family live with you, just like happened in Hungary.

Well, DeBlasio seems to be leaning in that direction if he can have his way. I am not sure that enough people realize what a dangerous dude he is and that he will seek higher office in the not so distant future.

Theyll use taxpayer money to build apartment complexes first, imo. We're way down the road from that type of stuff. Communist countries didnt have the tax base so they had to make do with existing housing stock.

Part of me thinks what De Blasio must be a hoax or something, but what's worse is the other part of me is not surprised he said those things at all.

Wow. He hates private property and capitalism. Good thing he's only the mayor of one of the biggest cities in the US.

Between my wife and adult daughter, I can't imagine anyone who isn't family voluntarily staying here very long.

Commies gonna Commie. If you are not active in supporting good candidates, getting freedom loving people to the polls, and voting yourself, this republic will fall in our lifetime.

This crap comes from rhino retards as well,
I remember my mother ,who I had living with me at time in my 2 br. Mother in law apt. Heard this on the radio...
Was upset about this, I had to reassure her nobody was coming to kick her out.
    ————————————-
You really have to give the "Hoof in Mouth" award to Lt. Governor Kerry Healy. Ms. Healy, who hails from toney, "horsey", oh-so- propah Beverly Farms - really stepped in it last week with this comment about property tax breaks for seniors:

    Boston Globe, 3/22

"My opinion is that to extend tax breaks to seniors in order to keep them overhoused and isolated in the suburbs is not necessarily the right answer," Healey told a State House News Service reporter two weeks ago, in an interview that was made public yesterday. "It's an answer, but the best answer would be to bring them into our city and town centers, into more appropriate housing, and free up those properties to get back on the tax rolls of the community."

“Look, if I had my druthers, the city government would determine every single plot of land, how development would proceed. And there would be very stringent requirements around income levels and rents. That’s a world I’d love to see, and I think what we have, in this city at least, are people who would love to have the New Deal back, on one level,” de Blasio told New York Magazine.

“They’d love to have a very, very powerful government, including a federal government, involved in directly addressing their day-to-day reality.”

De Blasio promised Monday at his second swearing in as New York City mayor to usher the city into a “new progressive era” that will spread beyond the city’s “borders.”

“Something big is happening in New York City,” de Blasio told a crowd of hundreds gathered in front of City Hall Monday. The 56-year-old Democratic mayor announced a commitment to bring about “a new progressive era in this city’s history,” one that will be “felt beyond our borders.”

    I'm not feelin' it...

LOL, add 3 gigantic obnoxious dogs to my wife and kids and I don't see anyone lasting more than 2 days here. Actually, I'd be glad to welcome someone who will help with the trash, dishes, and keeping the dogs' water dish full. Turn off the lights they are not using and I might legally adopt them.

Totally agree with the OP, peterk123. I visit Hungary ~once per year and spend quality time with Hungarians at least twice a year. They mention how our country was heading in the direction they finally were able to break away from. They were also kinda pissed about how the US media portrayed Hungary as evil during the zombie migration. I heard several direct accounts of how Hungary was dealing with border attacks from armed military aged males and that the media clips of grandparents or mothers running in terror as they carried children was complete BS compared to the reality.

The 'very, very powerful government' statement sums it all up. Any sheep who vote for that are the enemy of freedom. I somehow thought progressivism would slow down a little after the last election, but creeps like deBlasio are only doubling down. Note that progressives have been attacking the Constitution for a while now, as rescinding much of it would be necessary for them to force their plans. deBlasio has extremely dangerous ideas, if the article is correct. I don't doubt it- I have been hearing echoes of the same progressive shit from the student crowd. If he is successful in rolling out such actions I don't see any way around an eventual civil war. That crap is not going to fly outside any area that is not subject to a Dem/Progressive stranglehold, and we will be strongly divided between those who want to preserve the Constitution and those who want to burn it.

Progressivism is simply Communism, in a more insidious yet equally sinister form.

Baker "is" a 'Republican' just like Bloomberg "was".

The SALT change in the tax code is going to be a serious impediment to deep blue cities like NYC which have city income taxes on top of state level taxes. Expect a large exodus of tax refugees from these places. Pray they don't bring their shitty voting habits with them.

I think you underestimate the effect of city's with income taxes in state's with income taxes in addition to local & or state property taxes no longer being fully written off in federal taxes. For a lot of wealthy people the hit is going to be massive and well worth moving just outside the city or state trying to bleed them dry. It also forces cities & states to "pay their fair share" as the the feds now get their full cut instead of the blue cities and states 'grabbing it first'.

People should read about the history of the Rockaways in New York. It was prime beachfront property with huge swaths turned into a massive crime infested ghetto by NYC planner Robert Moses in the 60's.

You got a better chance winning Meha Bucks.

Actually, I don't see this happening, yet at least. While the new tax bill eliminated SALT, it also lowered the brackets such that wealthy folks will come out even or, perhaps worst case, paying only a little more than before. If the brackets had not been reduced, then the adverse tax effect to the wealthy would have been far more significant and more likely to start having the effects you describe above. I have no doubt that we'll get there some day when Dems have control again.

Anyone over 60 YO should remember the concept of "urban renewal " from the 1960's. Mostly a complete and total mess and destroyer of neighborhoods.

I have a liberal friend who, when I complain about free public housing (and people's lack of respect for said housing), alway's states, "Well, you wouldn't want to live like that!" It will be interesting to hear his response to being forced to accept some free shit people b/c he and his wife have "too much room".

And, yes I believe forced, shared housing is coming and will be another sign for "go time".

This coming from the same guy that just gave himself a pay “raise” that’s more than the amount a person on minimum wage would take home in a year (just the raise itself, not his entire salary). Ya, he cares about these people. F**k him.

DiBlasio’s not even his real name. He changed that to try and fit in better. That’s why they call him the fake Italian. And he wants to build a statue, to himself.

Nice guy. Hope he gets ass crabs.

Ah Diblasio, NYC's own version of Angela Merkel, though I suspect she has a bigger johnson than he does.

This is why liberal POS like him want so badly to ban and confiscate firearms. Once the citizenry is defenseless, they can have their .gov men with guns come to seize private property, break up families, and murder or "re-educate" non-compliant folks in order to usher in their progressive socialist utopia.
