MassChiefs.org Newsletter Mentions H2259

So, which way is the wind blowing with this group relative to 2259, now that the legislative session is about to wrap up.

"As a result of that meeting, the Association will
propose language to counter H2259 that will improve
standardization, simplify licensing and maintain a chief’s
discretion."

What could go wrong?

Does not matter what the organization advocates. If the operators create inequality, the process is discriminatory and MUST be abolished. More than enough evidence exists to support revocation.

In other words...

You had the power, you abused it, now the people are taking it BACK.

This.

They shouldn't be given a second chance by just floating a few changes to their policies.....if this is the case, why don't they just change their policies right now? Why does it take the threat of H2259 to do it? Oh...so now the people may actually change things so we need to listen to them? BS.

No excuse....we have a list of the problem towns on this webstie for crying out loud. The abuse is evident and it's easy to find the offenders. MCOPA has had plenty of time to tell the offending towns to stop their crap. Maybe they have, but it's obvious certain CLEO's don't care what MCOPA has to say and won't listen to them anyway. So no matter what MCOPA floats it's a mute point....as long as the CLEO has discretion there will be discrimination.

It's obvious the chiefs want to stop H2259, keep the power, and continue to violate civil rights. Some chiefs and towns (not all) have a long and steady track record of it, and will continue to do the same no matter what suggestions or new policies are. This clearly needs to be taken out of their hands. They only have themselves to blame for losing it, they have eroded the trust of the people on this issue and need to be held responsible for that.
