Massachusetts most armed town

We all know how that will turn out carrying concealed on a sporting restriction. I know I don't do it. Worcester may think 1 thing, and Medway will think another. Not worth it.

I agree about Worcester having a bigger population. I just wish they were listed. I'd be curious to know what the numbers are.

TW, having restrictions on an LTC may grant you to carry concealed but I can almost guarantee that if you ever had to use your CCW when you shouldn't have had it on you to begin with , I don't think that will play out well in court. I met a guy who had restrictions and he told me he sometimes leaves his range bag in the trunk and CC's. That really isn't a good idea but he didn't want to hear it. Best option is trying to lift those stupid ****ing restrictions and if you have them already, I'd tread lightly if you think you can legally carry.

Exactly. That was my point. Your issuing city or town may say you can carry, but the best option is to not do it. Period.

Before anyone breaks out the tar and feathers, I should clarify my point which was clearly not received the way it was intended. I was not supporting restrictions as valid or as something you should experiment with. My point was that, for the purposes of the story, any LTC A allows you to carry. Talking about restrictions, for purposes of what will likely be a 2 minute 30 second piece on the 11:00 news would lead listeners down a confusing rabbit hole. Does a restricted LTC A allow you to carry anywhere you are legally permitted anytime you want? Of course not. Does that matter in a story where you're talking about gun ownership? Probably not. Especially not when (as someone already pointed out) most of these towns on the list don't issue restricted licenses or even LTC Bs in many cases.

If you have a restricted LTC A, yes, you got screwed and I am sorry and angry for you. And no, you shouldn't test its boundaries unless you're prepared to burn stacks of your own cash in a legal case.

I gotcha. I totally understand with what you are saying. I was really looking forward to the tar and feathers though. I'm not going to lie. [laugh]

#27 for me @6.94%. What I was really shocked about was Nantucket being #8 @ 8.46%! It's great to see such a strong 2A showing there, but has crime really ever been an issue there anyway? Before anyone gets their panties wadded up, I was not implying that as being the only reason for having guns, just found it interesting, that's all.[wink]

Want to blow your mind? If I want to carry concealed here, off license. I just need to go fishing. you can carry concealed while going to, coming back from or engaging in fishing/hunting/camping/screwing in the woods.

Best part, trout the size of my thighs in the middle of the spokane river right in the middle of downtown.

I also like how on the very 1st page it says, "With an LTC A a person can carry a weapon concealed."

Really? Since when? Forget about restrictions ass bag??

I like how the picture they use to illustrate LTC-A for concealed carry shows a guy shooting a Ruger MK III (or something close): non-large cap and not easily concealable.

ETA: Heh heh, 69 (Pittsfield)!

I realize that. However, it shows may more "Gun Licenses" per town than the 2012 data, which leads me to believe that the 2010 data is all-inclusive while the new data is limited to LTC-As. That's the distinction that I'm trying to get people to realize.

I understand that it's counting ALL gun licenses. This trick of the media(and others) is called the Hegelian dialectic where they'll imply one thing (In this case big, bad and scary LTC) and then use data, as you aptly point out, showing ALL firearms licenses -- So we'll all be scared that the guy next door may have (gasp) a GUN ! In sales it's called the bait and switch. The Hegelian dialectic goes one step further in that it proposes the solution to the false problem that it has created (In this case, more gun control laws).

He can legally carry its just that if the wrong person finds out about it, his LTC can be administratively destroyed. (and all the other stuff with it). Think of it as a one trip ticket.

There would be no difference in the aftermath of an SD shooting, really, other than the fact that he definitely wouldn't get his license back if the PD involved squawks on him.

Before the wording in the law was changed (when it was reason for issuance) "carrying against the reason" was pretty commonplace. Course cities like Boston used to do stupid shit like stamping NOT FOR CARRY all over the horseblankets, etc. (the old LTC format).

No, we don't, actually. It depends on the situation/location and whether or not the LEO examining your permit is an a**h*** or not. To many, an LTC is an LTC is an LTC.... to others, like that lady in lowell that said she would point guns at non LEOs carrying guns, chances are there will be problems. Mileage likely varies!

This brings up an interesting line of discussion. Does anyone know of any cases where someone on a restricted license used the weapon in SD (presumably outside of their restrictions)? If so, were additional charges added?

true I guess. I still wouldn't take the chance in this state. It seems like just for breathing in this state you can get yourself screwed. To me, it's not worth the potential hassle and risk you are putting yourself in.

What charges would they add? It's not a criminal violation! It's an administrative one, for which they can revoke the LTC, and presumably, assess some monetary fine (which I've never heard of).

I guess that makes sense, but being MA, you never know! Fortunately I don't have to worry about those pesky restrictions, but this discussion did make me curious about that situation.

Proud to live in #7, and taking great exception to the earlier statement that we are "so hick". We have THREE traffic lights AND two blinkers!! Ront

Hmm... maybe the crime in Worcester would be lower if more law abiding citizens were allowed to carry...

Whats astounds me the most tallying up the number of total LTC A in that list (roughly counting around 80,000) and multiplying by $100 for every 6 years ($16.66 per year) for new license/renewal fees. That is alot of money going to the state per year for just LTC A issuing for those city/towns, that's not including the total states total LTCs and FIDs issuings.
