A state police sergeant is suing the embattled agency and one of its troopers over claims she’s being punished for blowing the whistle on files of porn she found while on the job at the academy.
The officer, in the suit filed yesterday in Suffolk Superior Court, accuses the state police of going after her for a “romantic relationship” she broke off after the discovery of porn on a portable hard drive at the New Braintree academy in 2016.
50 Shades of grey here...lol
State police woes compounded with new lawsuit filed by sergeant
“(She) discovered ... sexually suggestive photographs and videos of naked women” listed by body parts, the suit states. “Some of the folders contained graphic photographs that were disturbingly organized and labeled according to the aforementioned female body parts.”
Trying to imagine...will someone file a FOIA on this evidence
The officer is seeking damages for sex/gender discrimination, retaliation, violation of the state’s whistleblower statute and interference with her business relations.
The case also involves a prank with a fake Taser at the Massachusetts State Police Academy that the female trooper said was harmless, but used against her to seek retribution for stumbling upon the porn. She claims male troopers playing along were not properly disciplined for their actions.
She also alleges a rumor spread that she was in a relationship with a retiring superior, also harming her career.
David Procopio, a state police spokesman, has denied the department discriminated against the sergeant.
