TNT is a molecule, dynamite is a mix of stuff including nitroglycerin.

Actual dynamite hasn’t been made in a long time.

The old recipe for TNT would sweat out nitroglycerine, you would always want to check the paper for staining before handling. New stuff is probably very stable but still very hydroscopic, so it would hate getting damp.

C4/RDX is a polymer, so it should last forever if stored properly. Stuff is fascinating because it reacts with almost nothing and is totally inert unless you hit it with a certain amount of joules.

I live about 1.5 miles from where the stuff was found. My wife and I heard one big explosion, a second smaller explosion, and a third one which was just about the same as the first one. We didn't know what was going on at the time.
