Here is my Mass Compliant Vepr 12 Build.

I worked with Neponset Valley Gunsmiths to find an existing AK thumbhole stock they could modify to make it MA compliant, http://www.nvgunsmiths.com/home.html These guys are awesome, they will be getting all my future work.

Vepr 12: New 2015 fixed tubular stock model, https://www.classicfirearms.com/vepr12gashotgun
Stock: Zastava Thumbhole Stock, http://www.centerfiresystems.com/STKAKA05.aspx

Mods
Recoil Pad - Limbsaver 10805: The plastic recoil pad was not enough, 40 rounds and I had instant broken blood vessels, can shoot all day with the limbsaver pad, plus it fits perfectly. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KCS5GXQ?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage

Bottom Rail - RFT: Requires some smithing to fit. https://rapidfiretek.com/product/vepr-12-hand-guard-with-picatinny-rail/

Vertical Grip - Troy SGRI-VRT-00BT-00

Muzzle Brake - CNC Warrior Firestorm Short:
http://www.cncwarrior.com/Saiga-VEPR-12-Short-Firestorm-Brake-p/26161.htm Lock nut required, http://www.carolinashooterssupply.com/0_p/css-russian-locknut.htm

Safety - Krebs Vepr: Allows safety engaged with bolt locked back, Requires some smithing. http://www.carolinashooterssupply.c...ety_lever_AK_Tactical_p/krebs-ak47-safety.htm

Trigger - Modified Tapco G2: This trigger rocks, solid 3lbs, short reset, little creep, almost scary on a semi shotgun, but very fun. http://www.carolinashooterssupply.c...e_Control_Group_p/css-saiga-trigger-group.htm and the performance spring, http://www.carolinashooterssupply.c...ng_hammer_spring_tromix_p/jte-main-spring.htm

There are some restrictions on what Dram the Vepr can shoot, once broken in the Vepr 12 can shoot 3 Dram or Higher, 2.75 Dram is right out, all would stove pipe or fail to eject at all. I wanted some flexibilty, so I did this extra stuff to achieve 2.75 Dram. I only had one test run so far, 9 of 10 shot with no issue and ejected very far. More testing to follow.

Guide Rod: I could not budge the pin with a 3lb hammer, took it to a smith, http://www.carolinashooterssupply.c...A_12_PEROFRMANCE_GUIDE_ROD_p/jte-guiderod.htm

Reduced power recoil spring: http://www.carolinashooterssupply.c...power_recoil_springs_guide_p/css-spring-1.htm

am i missing something you cannot have a pistol grip/stock on a vepr shotty?

This is what makes a shotgun a "Assault Weapon" in MA:

(D) a semiautomatic shotgun that has at least 2 of--
(i) a folding or telescoping stock;
(ii) a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon;
(iii) a fixed magazine capacity in excess of 5 rounds; and
(iv) an ability to accept a detachable magazine.'.

Sweet build! Is the stock/grip for righties only, or can a lefty get a comfortable hand on the grip?

Well it is made completely as a righty, cheek weld is on the left side, here is a pic of the other side. You could get your hand in there, but it is not comfortable, I have small hands. During recoil, the back of the thumb joint would take a beating.

Was this originally a welded non fold tubular stock?
If so what did you have to do to get the new stock on?

Yes, it was a fixed, non welded folder, the new style 2015.

Neponset valley gunsmiths did the work, they took off the old stock and was able to use the existing hole in the rear and the handgrip. They had to do some work to the stock, little cutting, insert a plate.

If you get the chance can you post a pic of the internals?

The silver half moon deep inside I believe is a allen head bolt that goes straight into the stock.
