I was looking for a 1911 in 9mm.

And looking at the roster and what's available at stores..
Is S&W the only 1911 in 9mm that's complaint?

I have a lot of choices for good prices when you can open it up to armslist and gunbroker..
Are there any other gun manufacturers that I can have shipped in?

STI has a compliant 9mm. If I was looking for a 9mm 1911, I'd get a double stack STI. You'll pay for it, though. (Actually, I'd be most likely to get it in .40S&W for competition reasons.)

Cool thanks. Just checked out their website. Great looking guns, but you're right, you're paying for it.

Double stack magazine makes it faster and easier for reloads. Magwells help with a single stack, but I still find double stacks easier.

Ofcourse I would talk to my ffl first.
But I'm looking at the current roster and I don't see STI even on there..

I was just speaking figuratively here. If I asked about shipping something in that was clearly not on the list.. then I would expect you guys to tell me to look locally and privately.

I didn't see your list above.
I was going by this list

IMHO Stop caring about the roster, it's usually not very useful. There are dealers that are more strict than the roster and others less so.

You can find both rosters here: http://www.mass.gov/eopss/firearms-reg-and-laws/frb/approved-rosters/

There are some guns that are on the Formal Target Shooting Roster that are, as a result, allowed some exceptions from certain requirements. They are legal for a dealer to sell new in MA.

I know.. I know..
The problem with Mass though is that we need some form of guide. And that's the best we have.
I didn't even know that there was an issue with the 1911 9mm until I peeked at that roster. And saw only 1 gun.

It's easy to buy a stripped frame and have a local gunsmith build the perfect gun for you. Or build it yourself.

Order a STI 9mm Targetmaster and be done with it (mass compliant, and edc told me it is an 8 to 10 week lead time). The cost is close to the S&W but honestly a much better weapon. I shot both a S&W PC 1911 9mm and my Trojan (cheaper than S&W) and liked the STI way more.
