Marlin 45-70 lever action. Good gun?

Funny. Looks like a Henry... [smile]
Lol, yup. Was gonna buy the Marlin, found out how much it would cost in ammo, decided the Henry made more sense next to the GP100 and SP101.
How much $$$
iirc the Marlin 45-70 was $650 or thereabouts. It was at Shawsheen firearms in Billerica. Bought the Henry there instead.

He isn’t selling it. He going to trade it for a super Blackhawk
Actually, the 38/357 gave me a bug for levers, found a Henry 44mag from a member here. Kip wants to trade me for his SuperBlackHawk, but I already have a 44mag revolver. 1 revolver, 1 rifle makes more sense to me than 2 revolvers no rifle 20190131_123220.jpg

So pretty. Look at it shine in the light. Lol

Well, long story short, the 45-70 Marlin turned in to this:View attachment 263388
Big Boy 357 Trapper. Range time in the am.

I have that Big Boy in steel. It has become one of my favorite guns to bring to the range. It shoots 38 spl like a 22 in terms of recoil.
Btw, my kid wants a 45-70 lever gun. He doesn’t seem to care about the price of feeding it.
