Maybe you should find another thread that your opinion matters in. Better yet, start one of your own.

We used to unofficially refer to them as BAM's, Broad Ass Marines. Just saying.

Had a co-ed squadron at USAF Basic back in 1979 but still separated barracks. Drum & Bugle Corps was the only mixed section at basic. All other squadrons were single sex.

A 5’4 USMA Female Captain dogged me through OCS. Getting on her bad side was a BIG mistake. Good training for marriage.

Our OCS Platoon had four women, but they could all not only max the female PT test but pass the men’s pretty easily as well. Damned athletic.

My boot camp goes back 50 years so my opinion is old school.

    Yes, it was adversarial!

I'm so old that my barracks at first battalion was one of those white, wood, buildings. I went back to P.I. in 1998. All of the white, wood, barracks were replaced with brick barracks. All but mine. My white barracks building is still there, it's the first battalion, admin. building now.

Seems like human soldiers should be obsolete. If infantry is required, it should be robots. Humans are poor soldiers in the 21st Century.

I was 1st BN too! I couldn’t tell u where that last white building is, we only spend 99.9 percent of the time locked at the position of attention, lol!! I can’t wait to get back there and Quantico has a fairly new museum as well

We had a dose of super contagious pinkeye work its way through nearly 1/2 the platoon, had there been WMs in the barracks it might have been a dose of something else.

    Just say’n

Yup, not good. Saul of Tarsus (Paul the Apostle) knew this in the first century AD when he wrote:

Timothy 2:12: But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

But we're so much smarter than those guys, amirite? /SARC

I heard that they can't smack boots around any more. Any real truth to that?

The 90's rule was: if you were going to the room where the cleaning supplies were kept (there was a term for it that escapes me) pretty much anything goes. What happens in the supply locker stays in the supply locker, but typically no actual smacking around - just stuff the company commander doesn't/shouldn't (want to) know about.

I went through in the early 90s and they couldn’t hit you but they could physically correct drill movements. So one day a certain recruit wasn’t 4 inches from his chest while at port arms and the drill instructor corrected him by taking his rifle and slamming it off his face and broke his nose, sent the M16A2 handguards flying! We went from 4 drill instructors to 3, he was relieved of his duties. And he was a f***ing prick, lol!

We had a squad leader punch another shitbag recruit in the face actually right in front of our DI’s while they were playing games with us and our Heavy Belt took all the squad leaders into the head and made it very clear that if he can’t hit recruits then we certainly can’t.

My first duty station was at MCAS Beaufort, and we would bus over to PI for rifle qual. We pass some 4th Bn recruits and the bus starts chattering about "bloody field mice" and stuff. One guy says "can you imagine what that smells like" to which another replied "I'd sniff if." That was the best bus ride ever. [rofl]

Geez. Sounds like that could have been written off as a accident. I have a nice scar through my left eyebrow. First day of boot camp, one of the D.I.'s Smacked me in the eye with his Corps. ring, while I was standing at attention, in front of my rack. Cold conked me. When I woke up, I went back to standing at attention. The D.I.'s were going crazy, screaming at everyone as they walked up and down the squad bay. The D.I. makes his way back to me and says, that was for sweating without permission. When I come back you'd better not still be bleeding without permission.

Lol. We had a guy named Tiner, from East Boston. Crazy S.O.B.. We were doing jumping jacks before rack time, you know, after showering, because some jerk water screwed up. Jerk Water is in front of Tiner watching, while we're paying for his screw up. Tiner takes the heavy lid off of the trash can and beats the f*^k out of Jerk Water with it. D.I. sees this, looks the other way and says stop. I'm tired now. Hit the rack. Good night ladies. Next day Tiner is squad leader.

    Understood, needs two arrows.

    Agreed, male or female robots?

Depends on which party you vote for, also in which century you were born.
