Really bizarre story. It's a shame the victim didn't have a gun, could have solved this situation. Then again this guy was quick to "surrender" and actually gave the suspect the knife he had for protection. Nothing would have helped this guy...

MANCHESTER — Details about an alleged kidnapping inside an oceanfront mansion in Manchester-by-the-Sea early Monday emerged from court papers filed in the case, which has led to charges against two Beverly men who police believe crashed a house party.
Manuel O’Shea, 21, of 36 Sturtevant St., and Jaymes Aaron, 18, of 101 Rantoul St., have both pleaded not guilty to charges that besides kidnapping include assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, armed assault in a dwelling and witness intimidation.
Both men are being held in the case; O’Shea’s bail was set at $1,500 but he was ordered held in another pending case for violating the terms of his release; Aaron will be held without bail until a dangerousness hearing next week.
Police were called to the home at 7 Gales Point Road shortly after 2 a.m. by a caretaker, who said a houseguest had just shown up at the caretaker’s cottage reporting that he’d been kidnapped and held hostage for hours.
The 23-year-old New York man who says he was the victim told police that he had been staying at the property with the son of the owners of the house.
They had hosted a house party, inviting a group of young women. The alleged victim told police that he was upstairs for an extended period, then went back downstairs and encountered two men he did not know.
One of the men, he said, was cooking eggs, but, he told police, they were “instantly combative.”
“I continuously asked them to leave and they would not,” the man wrote in a statement. He said that “the situation escalated,” and “I started to feel threatened by (the) two males, and went to pick up a large kitchen knife ... nearby. I never directly threatened/pointed the weapon at them.”
But he said the men “did see and react to the weapon. I decided that this action may escalate the situation and gave the weapon to Male 1, who was non-combative. My goal was to show I was not looking for a fight and I just wanted them to leave.”
“I do not remember, actually, but I felt threatened again after surrendering the weapon, and reached for Knife No. 2, after which I also set this down by the sink,” the alleged victim wrote.
“Finally both knives are located by the sink,” he continued. “I continue to argue and ask them to leave. The situation escalates and I fear for my life, so I reach for the large knife by the sink. This is when Male No. 2 approaches fast behind me and reaches for the smaller knife.”
The alleged victim told police that the man, later identified as James, held the knife to his ribs and a struggle ensued, during which he “surrendered” the knife to James, who, he said, cut his hand while grabbing it.
The man also said James placed him in a headlock.
“Finally I was released, and I made sure to keep my hands visible in a surrender position,” the New York man wrote.
“For the next several hours (it felt like hours) I was held against my will by knife,” he wrote. “I continuously asked if I was a hostage and if I was free to go. I was told I was not a hostage but I was not free to go!!”
He said James continued to yell and ramble, telling the New York man that his friend, the son of the owners, had a $2 million trust fund and that he was nothing more than a “peasant” and “nothing more than a maid.”
He said the men continued to argue, then “exited the house with both knives.”
He ran to the caretaker’s cottage.
Police took note of redness on the alleged victim’s neck, and a small red mark near his ribcage.
The caretaker’s son provided police with a Snapchat image of one of the men, who officers recognized as O’Shea. The second man was subsequently identified through social media images and as a result of a traffic stop by Essex police earlier in the evening.
A large knife in a sheath was found in the driveway to the home.
Police obtained a warrant later Monday and arrested both men.
