A man was caught with a loaded handgun at the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport security checkpoint Wednesday. Daniel Velez, a regional spokesman for the TSA, said Thursday that TSA screeners detected a loaded 9mm Sig Sauer P365 firearm — 10 rounds, none chambered — in the carry-on bag of a male passenger headed to Philadelphia. This marks the first time a firearm has been detected on a passenger or in their carry-on bags at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport this year, said Velez. Londonderry police responded and escorted the passenger out to place the weapon in his vehicle. He was then allowed to continue on his way to Philadelphia, Velez said.

10 round mag, so he's probably from MA, if this gets back to his licensing authority he'll probably come back to a revoked LTC. I'd bet the NH police won't rat him out but the TSA? That would be just like them.

The 365 comes with two 10 round mags standard regardless of state.

He'll still get a notice from TSA of a big fat "administrative fine" that will be thousands of dollars.
No kidding. Kick in the nuts:
$4,100

We know who he is and he now faces a stiff financial federal civil penalty.” According to the TSA, the first time a passenger is caught with a loaded gun at a security checkpoint, they can face a fine of $4,100, though that sum can triple depending on the circumstances and the suspect's level of cooperation.

This is the most outrageous story ever. The fact that Manchester Airport tries to market itself as a boston airport. SMH.
I believe they did it to piss off Massachusetts.
And because it's a lesser known airport that is easy to get in and out of, and it's not a bad drive back down to Northern MA.
Decent alternative to somebody in the tech sector looking to get to some of the companies around Burlington.
Logan blows. I hate driving in there.
I used to frequent Newark, Philly, LAX too, just awful.
I flew into Phoenix a few times, that one I remember being pretty decent.
LaGuardia absolute worst ever.
So glad I don't fly anymore. My company wanted to fly me to NJ a few years back for a meeting.
I refused. They rented me a car. I left at 4AM. I got there aroud 8 I think.
Everybody who flew had to be at Logan at 5. So they had to be up at 4 too. Then, they all stuffed in a company van to get carted in from the airport.
They got a ride back to the airport and waited around for a flight. I think I got home a few hours before their flight landed.
No a**h***s sitting around me, and I got to stop whenever I wanted.

Maybe I'm dreaming but I think there was a story here a few months ago about someone who brought a gun to Logan and was allowed to drive home and leave it there.

“TSA agents caught two firearms at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport in 2020, one in 2019, and four in 2018, according to Velez.”

No doubt just poor composition skills, but the journalist’s use of “caught” in reference to guns is laughable. In NYC, the police “recover” guns while letting those who had been “caught” with the guns go. Has TSA ever “caught” a gun who’s owner was indeed found to have been planning to shoot up the plane, or use that gun for criminal purposes? I’d wager it’s 99.999%+ stupid. A NH State Representative got nabbed at MHT years ago with a gun in his briefcase - oops!

The psycho-social babble is all about the presence of guns leading to more aggression and potential violence. As though some evil emanates from these cruel objects to turn minds to their nefarious desires.

That said, The guy lucked-out, relatively speaking. He could be sitting in jail on felony charges.

RFID tags to make “smart guns” is just so wrong, but a small RFID tag on your carry guns might be useful. You could set a geotag on an app to alert your before you go through TSA, or if you you forget which toilet stall you were in when you hung your gun on the coat hook.

Glad they handled it professionally at least.
There really is no reason to not handle in an unprofessional way unless the goal is to be a c*nt.

The guy didn't break any laws, he had a gun, was told about it, left to store it. Not a big deal, it happens.

As far as airports go, Logan is not bad. The airport is tiny, you get anywhere in 5 minutes.

It does s*ck for food and drinks while waiting, some terminals have nothing. But I go from getting my ticket to sitting down in less than 10minutes, including the TSA check.

At least it is not f*cking Miami, where if you go from AA to LATAM, you are on opposite sides of the airports and if the shuttle is not working, it takes around 35 minutes to walk (fast walking).

Or f*cking Newark, that Airport never ends.
