Wildwood man shot, killed by deputy
Orlando, Florida -- A 33-year-old Wildwood man was shot and killed by a Sumter County deputy sheriff after a struggle between the two, authorities said today.
Michael Williams, 33, of Royal died shortly after 6:20 p.m. Wednesday after he struggled with Deputy Sheriff Jason Adkinson, the Sheriff's Office said.
Adkinson was trying to arrest Williams on a warrant for violation of probation. According to the Sheriff's Office, Williams ran from his residence off County Road 222, Adkinson caught up with him, the two struggled, and the deputy's gun fired.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting. Adkinson was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
