No mention of nachos in the article, CCW fail. [hmmm]

http://www.azcentral.com/community/surprise/articles/2010/04/08/20100408el-mirage-walmart-gun-fired-abrk0408.html

El Mirage police arrested a man on suspicion of endangerment when the gun he was carrying fired, launching a bullet into a store's ceiling early Thursday morning, officials said.

David Walter, a 30-year-old Surprise resident, entered the Walmart near 129th Avenue and West Thunderbird Road around 1 a.m. While in the store, witnesses told police he repeatedly fidgeted with a holstered semi-automatic pistol.

No injuries were reported, and Walter was arrested without incident, Peoples said.

At one point, a clerk working the electronics section told police that Walter took the gun out of its holster and then removed and replaced the gun's magazine. The woman feared she was about to be robbed and notified the store manager. Walter continued through the store, apparently with a video game he told the clerk he would pay for at the front registers, Peoples said.

Walter wound up near a register where he later told police he intended to purchase the game. He removed the gun from the holster again, causing the magazine to come loose and fall to the floor. Walter re-inserted the magazine and continued manipulating the gun when it fired, sending one round into the ceiling, Peoples said.

The identity of the gun's owner was unclear, but authorities were able to determine that the firearm had not been reported stolen.

Police arrested and booked Walter into Fourth Avenue Jail on six counts of endangerment and firing a weapon in city limits.

Uh, huh. [rolleyes]

holy crap! I used to live right around the corner from that walmart (124th and thunderbird) and would frequently visit that store at that time. El Mirage is messed up... 11 sqaure miles and more cops than you can shake a stick at... I would see at LEAST one, sometimes 2 cars pulled over every single night on my way home from school at midnight...

It's not concealed carry when you draw your pistol multiple times in Wal Mart. Just wonderful ammo for the Anti Gunners. AD's in public places always help our cause immensely.

And not to be prejudice, but look at his photo. He looks rather lost to me.

Hey, if the socialist left can escape the stain of Stalin, Hitler, Pot, etc... I think we can get out from under an idiot like this... [laugh]

Total idiot - if you are having a "wardrobe malfunction", go out and fix it somewhere in private so you don't have to fumble around...

But ceiling tile vs 100M dead from the liberal socialists? I'll take my chances with this idiot... [laugh]

If you need to draw your pistol and remove the mag several times it's more than a wardrobe malfunction! Maybe brain malfunction? Definitely not firing on all 8.

based on what i'm reading... he was REALLY NERVOUS. probably was going to:

a. rob the place
b. 1st time carrying, holding or doing anything with a gun
c. both a and b

[laugh]

I don't think this should even be considered a concealed carry story, seeing he repeatedly took the gun out and played with it!
What a jackass...

It sounds like the moron was psychotic.

Definitely not a great poster boy for concealed carry.

Since this happened in AZ, there's only a 50% chance that he was actually concealing his firearm at any time....

Regardless, this guy is a numbskull of epic proportions. Did the brady bunch pay him $50 or something to touch off a gun in a store? That's how dumb this is.

This was in AZ which is an OC state. I've never looked into it, but i thought you couldn't ccw.

Not an excuse for the guy, just saying he may not have been concealing.

You can CC with a permit in AZ. You can OC with no permit at all. (At least that's how it was when I lived there in the 90's.)

Holy shit grant, that IS a scary thought. You think they would stoop that low to get their agenda pushed deeper into the populace's minds? If that DOES happen, then it truly is a war between "us" and "them".

Ug, I threw up a little just thinking about that tactic.
