LD1737
On Wednesday, State Representative Walter Wheeler (D-151) voted in favor of creating a victim disarmament zone in Acadia National Park, thus breaking the tie (7-6) in the Joint Standing Committee on Criminal Justice. LD1737 will now head to the Senate with a recommendation that it "Ought to Pass."
We can stop this. Write your Rep and State Senators, call them, write a letter to the editor, stand up and beat this! Encourage others to do the same!
The following link will give you Rep and Senate contact info.

"Let me make one small vote for the NRA. They're good citizens. They call their Congressmen. They write. They vote. They contribute. And they get what they want over time."
- Former Clinton spokesman George Stephanopoulos

Let's be good citizens and shut this mess down!

Archer can you list the source of this info. I am trying to find out more but cannot find anywhere that states it left the committee? Thanks.

NRA-ILA just posted that the committee voted 7-5 to 'reconsider' the prohibition bill. Good job to all who made their voices heard!

"Yesterday, Friday, February 26, the Joint Standing Committee on Criminal Justice voted 7-5 to reconsider LD1737 with an amendment that would allow permit holders and law enforcement officials to carry concealed firearms in Acadia National Park. This amended version is a critical step forward in assuring the right of self-defense for the law abiding."

Wonder how many angry e-mails/calls/snail mail they had to get before the could 'reconsider' this bill.

The Governor signed the amended bill into law yesterday. I wonder why the Media failed to take notice. I think this is a clear victory for us pro-gun folks. The laws regarding the carrying of concealed weapons in Arcadia are the same as the rest of the state. Now we just need to get the State Park Rangers to re-interpret their rules to allow concealed carry.
