Seems Maine has it right!

On Tuesday, the Maine Senate held a floor vote on LD 168, legislation that would institute a Universal Background Check law in Maine. The bill was defeated. NRA-ILA would like to thank all lawmakers who defended the Second Amendment for law-abiding citizens in the Pine Tree State.

LD 168 would have required background checks for all private sales of firearms, including those at gun shows or resulting from advertising, with very limited exceptions. It also would have required background checks on all private sales between two parties – including friends, neighbors, and co-workers, regardless of where the sale took place. All such transfers – even if the seller knew the recipient was not a prohibited person – would have to be conducted through a federal firearm licensed dealer (FFL), with extensive federal paperwork, payment of an undetermined fee, and approval from the U.S. government.

Voters killed that in a state election a few years back. Asshat dems keep submitting it every session. It actually passed in the house because of last minute shenanigans but the senate rejected it.
Time for states to just codify gun ownership right into state constitutions and end this crap once and for all.

You know that MA has that, right?

Article XVII.
The people have a right to keep and to bear arms for the common defence. And as, in time of peace, armies are dangerous to liberty, they ought not to be maintained without the consent of the legislature; and the military power shall always be held in an exact subordination to the civil authority, and be governed by it.

Unfortunately it is completely ignored by the politicians and the SJC. If it was followed as written we would not have any gun control on the books.

I mentioned it elsewhere.

The voters said NO. These scumbags tried again and were told the same thing. Again.

I’m convinced there should be a 5 year ban on reintroducing a bill shut down by a full state vote. Sadly, that would likely result in getting end reamed anyway

wow... the 'suitability' clause was a blatant violation of rights (not to be the 5,983,309238343th guy to say that..)

This rotten bill never would have gotten out of the House if 6 Republican Reps would have actually attended the session to vote no instead of being absent.

Is it possible to reannex Maine in the next 90 minutes or so? We'll let you take it back by November.

It's 5 minutes. And we're fighting here so you don't have to there. You're welcome. LOL

(Remember - without a craphole on your southern border, you'd start a liberal creep just on your own. We're here to remind you what you don't want. Send us some votes, willya????????)
