Hey all, I want to get my Maine non-resident CCW permit, but I see that some kind of training is required. I've had an MSP class from my time living in the People's Republic but I don't have any of the paperwork. Can someone advise? If I don't send any documentation of my "firearms safety knowledge" will they deny me? I'm willing to take a class if I must, but I'd rather not if I can do without.

Thanks,
Greg

If you have a CCW that required training, they may accept that. Your best bet is to talk to Susan at the SP(207) 624-7210 opt #3 they are easy to get along with and rather flexible to a point. Also if you have had military service your DD-214 will be sufficient

Just got a reply from Sgt. Gomane, ME SP wrt "knowledge of firearms" requirement. I asked if a copy of my NRA Instructor Certification was adequate and the answer is YES.
