Waiting for the Brown Truck to arrive; in and out of the safe reorganizing, cleaning, etc. It seemed every time I turned around there was a bunny in there. Maybe its checking out a place that's always closed, or they're just having fun.

Now let the bunny jokes begin!

Refilled my CW rifle slot with gorgeous 1844 M42 smooth-bore musket, with 1850 on the tang. All my muskets went in the "Great Purge of 2017" to pay for medical expenses. I stripped it down and cleaned it, but is wasn't really necessary. All metal came apart easily, with the cone coming out with finger pressure only. A coat of BLO on the wood - no cracks - but no visible cartouche either. Metal received a wipe of CLP. The bayonet I found in VT fits perfectly. Almost too nice to shoot, but I will at some point. Got a sling and tompion for it. I'll take daylight pictures tomorrow.

Some more. Bore has a little pitting in the first 6 inches, but is excellent the rest of the way down.

Very nice. The first firearm I ever fired was a blackpowder musket. I should get something blackpowder some day...

FINALLY got to shoot the M42. 50 yards, overcast, 61F. 5 rounds .685 ball and 3 rounds .32 buck shot over 80gr 2F powder. Then 7 rounds .685 ball over 55gr 3F ball. All the ball of buck and ball hit, not so good with the ball and 3F powder. Have more ball coming from Cabellas. FUN
