The machine guns will now be made safe and join the rest of the aircraft on permanent display in Derry,

A crime against history (the first part, that is)

Machine gun fires after surviving a crash and being buried for 70 years!

Fixed the thread title for you[smile]

That crash contains much of why we won the war. Without John Browning's guns, and without the Brit's Rolls Royce Merlin engine (also powered our Mustangs), we would have a hard time beating the Germans.

As with almost all gun laws and regulations, there's a movie that's caused .gov's to do this.

In Demolition Man ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demolition_Man_(film) ) they have to go to a museum to get guns that sill work in the future Utopia that the movie is set in. In order to prevent criminals from the past using guns in the future, UK officials have disabled this weapon.

It makes perfect sense when you think about it.
