All deaths of this nature are autopsied. It will determine ballistic direction, who had gun powder on their hands, etc.

I was not aware that was the case, and apologize for seeming insensitive.

As whacko stated, hopefully your family can have some comfort knowing that others in the hunting/shooting community are interested in the tragedy in order to make others safer and prevent similar tragedies.

Thank you all for the support. I will add any other factual information to this thread when we have a final police report. Our family still 100% supports hunting and I will personally try to spread the word about safety and proper gun handling.

A terrible tragedy. It should be a reminder to all of us how quickly things can do wrong. When we have a firearm in our hands, even a moment of inattention can result in disaster.
