MA Storage Laws - Disassembled gun?

Do the plastic boxes that pistols come in qualify as a secure container if you place a padlock or cable lock on them?

Would the fact that they are plastic and thus openable with a (possibly) knife or hacksaw make you liable in the eyes of the MA law?

So your question might be framed as "Does the fact that your secured container is openable by force thus render it unsuitable for secure storage of a firearm?"

I would say it does not. A padlocked plastic factory gun box meets the standard for secure storage in a building, or, if the pistol is unloaded, it also meets the standard for storage in a vehicle.

Believe it or not, even a locked gun cabinet would qualify for proper secure storage in a building, even if it had a glass front and sides!
