I'm a Mass. resident thinking of selling some handguns to a licensed FFL brick and mortar gun shop in Rhode Island. The dealer says all he needs to give me for documentation after the sale is a receipt for the amount that he paid me, along with an itemized list of the firearms that he bought, each with their serial numbers.

Is this all the documentation required in MA? I just want to be sure I do this right.

Thanks for your input.

That is all you need - there is no way to remove the firearms from the registry so a bill of sale will show you no longer own them if the law comes knocking

Yup. As they'll be transferred into and out of the FFLs bound book there's more documentation there.
