I am giving my son one of my AR10s. He is a MA resident. I have transferred MA compliant firearms in the past one being a 9MM carbine that was not. I had a smith change the A2 to a muzzle brake and pin it and also pinned the stock. With the AR10 I would imagine the only thing I would have to do is remove the A2 and replace it with a pinned compensator, brake etc. Do you think this recoil check pinned would be MA compliant.

Yes. That is a brake.

The easiest way to tell its a brake is that it has a small exit aperture. That forces combustion gas out the ports, which makes it a brake.

A flash hider works the opposite way. It has some kind of venturi which draws cool air IN to mix with the combustion gasses, cooling them, and reducing flash.

So if you see a small exit aperture, its a brake. By the way, that looks like it will work very well. Traditional miculek style brakes are cheap to make and very effective.

Flash hider on the top, brake/compensator on the bottom.
