I found this warning on a site selling body armor re/ Level III 1/4" steel plate:

"Level IIIStand-Alone
NOT rated to stop the .223 (5.56mm) FMJ round (M-193) that is higher velocity than the Green Tip / SS-109 / M-855 round."

The same page has this:

I am guessing that somewhere out there literature exists referring to M855 as a "semi armor piercing round" and some intern freaked and showed his ATF boss...

I am sure that there are still xm855 bullets around but never saw them sold for reloading....

I've seen a few places that had bulk pulls, minus the paint.... for me, i've just decided 55gr is what i want to shoot and set my zero for....

Makes sense. I'm paying $1+ each for MK262 Mod 1. It shoots barely bigger than 0.5MOA, but it's definitely not cheap. $0.18/rnd for range loads is pretty good too. At 50% the price of factory range ammo I could see that making sense.

If you're looking for mk262 for less than $1/round, it's out there. mk262 is definitely my favorite 5.56 ammo right now.
