M1 Carbines

AND THERE HAS TO BE ONE🤬

Last 40 rounds; all ammo was new Remington.
NO mis-feeds
2 off the Fedora...so I can live with a 5% case-to-the-head ratio
NEVER had a carbine shoot like this out of the box. I did NOT touch the rear sight save elevation.

No oil out of the stock either. Those 40 rounds were rapid fire.

So Brian, what's the MOA on this group?

Measures 1-5/16 x 1-3/16 inches.

Absolutely destroyed the best group I shot with Winchester. Targets aren't the same size so I can't compare points. NPM group is tighter.

I don't know why people think carbine's are so inaccurate. My inland did quite well last summer in the postal league...

50 yards on Caldwell 8" target and superimposed the 50yd B-6 rings on it after taking 10 shots.

50yd.jpg

That translated to a 99 - 6x

15 shots @ 100yds with the same gun and ammo:

performance like this would seem to indicate the military got it right to replace the 1911 sidearm for some auxiliary troops with equipment more easily able to hit the target. Can you imagine the average ground pounder in defense with a 1911 at 100yds. Before y'all jump on me there were and are plenty of folks able to deliver accurate fire beyond 100yds with the 1911 but pure effectiveness would cause me to grab the M1 every time. In a large part of the country up into the 80's they were still preferred truck guns.

The carbine is perfect for me as I can't heft a Garand since my heart attack and shoulder woes. I never got any of my Garands to shoot this well.

Part of the "accuracy" doubts are from the actual "accuracy and targeting" Requirements of the M1 carbine set by the War Department.

are M1 carbine was good to go shooting 5 out of 7 shots with in a 16"x 12" impact area from point of aim at 100 yards. They can be better for sure and with decent ammo and good bullets you can get sub 3 moa but if you/your rifle and ammo can hold the black of a SR1 you are doing well. if your doing better you got a match winner!

Don’t know if I could compete...I need to be seated with a rest. I’d like to try offhand, but have major balance issues.

Let’s have another carbine shoot....or maybe a “M1 shoot”....so those without carbines can play. Or they can come play with me as I have 2 now.

Diameter of a half dollar is 1.205 inches. It covers all 15 hits with 2 half holes visible...damn.

Well then more like 4 moa

@ 25 yards 1 MOA= .261”

Two bandoliers of carbine ammo. 120 rounds each, on old style stripper clips, Lake City 1954 and 1957.

70F and sunny tomorrow. Off to 200 yards; first time since my heart attack.

Carbine at 200 yards. Haven't shot 200 yards since my heart attack, and it will be another two years before I do again....it's too much work. Shot a whole bandolier of mostly LC 50/52/54/56, with one stripper of WRA45 mixed in. Put about 50 on steel and 70 on paper. Lots of vertical stringing until I found out 6:00 low+ was what was needed. Still, not bad for 200.

verticle stringing is all the huffing and puffing after running to and fro 200 yards! God bless ya T, I,know i I feel after trecking 200 yards with my arthritic hips.!
200 yard target has a 13" black bull.

This was the biggest black center target I could find in the closet. When I started hitting steel, I tried the target. 60 round check showed I was high. Then I brought the hits down. The stringing was me shifting from 6:00 high to 6:00 low, to 6:00 low+ on purpose until I started to get black.

Reloaded the ten best strippers with 100 rounds of new Remington for the next time. Need to bring out the Carcano and file the front sight on the DOT44 K98 first, before the carbine goes out a third time. The others are starting to complain.

.Here, are the pictures of my Royal
Tiger IBM carbine. receiver, and barrel IBM marked. The slide
had on the bottom D7161843,and a side ways F. The trigger
housing has Inland stamped on it. No markings on the stock.
Now this is the interesting part the serial number they sent me
on the invoice is 3881190,but the number on the rifle is
388119.He looked everywhere to see if the 0 was scrubbed
out,or the number was put else where, but nothing.Does
anyone have a carbine missing a number?
