Have a set of Warren Tactical -- plain black rear, tritium front -- sights on my M&P compact. Primary carry pistol in summer. Rear sight has very sharp inner edges that are wreaking havoc with my shirts (already ripped through 3). Planning on replacing it.

Want plain black rear that will accommodate height of Warren's tritium front sight with relatively smooth edges to prevent snagging on shirts. Looking at Bowie Tactical rear.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I've been doing a lot of research on M&P sights.

First - determine the height of your Warren post. If it's .016 then it's factory height. Finding a rear to match will be easy.

Look at Hienie, Dawson, Speed Shooters Specialty, etc. They are a lot of makers out there and the contours are different on all of them.

I have a Burwell rear on one - took a long time to get and needed hand fitting with a file and sandpaper to size for my slide - it took time but I had the tools. The Hienie dropped right in and I prefer the geometry over the Burwell. The front that came with the Hienie is .018 tall and my POI dropped - I suspect it's for the 5" slide so be careful if you buy a set.

Depending on your sight picture, the .014 front may change your POI - I need to do some work but the 3 dot sights are regulated for the dots to be on target - not a lollypop hold...

Good luck

those warren tactical sights are pretty nice, i'd try doing a little filing on the sharper edges in an attempt to keep them on the gun before i took them off.

Good idea. Don't feel like replacing if I can take edge off. Dumb question: What should I use to file...sandpaper, metal file? Want to make sure I use proper tool. Thanks.
