I have to renew in January 2025 how soon should I put my renewal application in
Thank you in advance

Mines not til 2027 and i havent been in ma long enough to know anything about the renewal process, but im wondering if i could renew sooner rather than later to avoid the new tomfoolery requirements

I put mine in near the end of August and I got it about a month later - with a royally bad picture that one can hardly see. Surprised it was sent out like that, but I received it late September.

The photo on my recent renewal is so bad there is no way you could ID me with it. i don't know how it got sent out like that. Hopefully, no one ever decides it's a problem.

What about out of staters? I pay $100 to MA every year for the privilege of carrying while visiting. Are non-res LTC processed faster than anti gun red towns?

I was just in Chelsea last month for my MA Non-Res LTC

The MA FRB recommends about 5 months. They won't accept any renewal applications before the 6 month prior time-line.

I'd suggest doing the 6 month prior renewal for a MA Non-Rest LTC.

I assume that you meant "time".

- Renewal application received at MA FRB on 3/15.
- MA FRB letter with interview date & time, I received on 5/15.
- Interview date shown on letter set for 9/16.
- As of now .... still waiting on renewal.
= 6 months + (for a 1 year license)

No I meant dime. I got fingerprinted by this young brunette wonder if you had the same.

I questioned that myself because mine is the same. Thankfully, I've been going to the same shop for years so it shouldn't be problem, but it's still concerning.

I sent mine in in early March for a September renewal. Don't recall when I received it, but it was months early.

I thought that they stopped the interviews for NRs after the initial issue? I still have 2 yrs to go before my 6 yrs with NR LTCs is up. Depending on what they do about instructor led training and LEOSA, I'll decide if I'll keep giving them $100/yr or not.

Called in Jan got a interview on may 3 a mouth before it expire and got it on Aug 26, but when i got it the date on the card say July 10 did the police hold until Aug.

I didn't have to speak with the officer in charge. I sent in the forms, the money, and it was mailed out without having to meet with me. Thank God they're passing on that aspect now. It was always so hard to get off for work for something that only lasted minutes and seemed so senseless.

I always sent it in 60 days in advance. Only the last time did it take longer than sixty to receive my new license. Then I carried the MIRCS receipt for a short amount of time. I think it's because my PD batches and sends them all in at the end of the month. The clerk is retired now and I believe nobody is home. The station is considered a "dark station" and a patrolman has to come in off the streets to process requested accident reports, tow releases, and LTC processing after 1600. Occasionally, they will come back to the station during the day to respond to other issues such as a walk in 209A request.
