I just took the MA LTC class at Smith & Wesson, and I'm about to apply for my LTC - unfortunately I live in Brockton. Here is my situation....In addition to my day job, I am an Independant Video Producer - meaning I am not being paid in that capacity until I produce a product and actually sell it. So it's not a full time job.....But, at any given time of day or night I may have $10,000 + worth of video equipment with me. Would this be enough of a reason for a LTC-A No Restictions? Does anyone know if Brockton even will give No Restrictions? I just don't want to spend the money on having a lawyer go over the application and letter with me if there is no chance of getting it with No Restrictions.

Thanks for any opinions you may have....

mine was restricted in brockton but then I got a part time job to write a letter saying I need a gun for work and I wrote a simliar but also included that I would like to have restrictions removed rather than just have work added to the sporting resrtiction and they did it so now I have no restrictions

I have an LTC in brockton myself. Typically, they dont give unrestricted until you reapply. Officer Maver is who does the licensing and is very nice. I might even call and ask her what she'd be inclined to provide you with. It's a grey slope as your self employed, but if you are i'm sure she's at least provide you with an "employment" restriction. Of course, that's pretty vauge since you do freelance work, but it'd apply whenever you are "working".

You could also try to get unrestricted due to the vaugeness of your work schedule.

cevtv. I'm a former photographer, and used that as one reason for my letter years ago. I stressed that I would never shoot anyone to protect equipment, but had a fear that sometimes the expensive equipment drew attention at weird times from all kinds of people, and I was worried about my models and people who were working with me on projects. As a photographer or videographer, you know you might be places at odd times, especially at night. You might mention something like that in your letter. Be able to document it.

Thanks guys!

This is exactly what I was going to say.

Thanks again!

You could always use the line "In the porn business we get some weirdos who try to bother the models, plus the PETA nut cases who get all worked up claiming that we are abusing the donkey".
