On Thursday morning my dad lost his battle with cancer at 82 years old. This was his the 5th different cancer he has had over the years. He was an incredible person. A loving husband, father, brother and friend. An Army Veteran stationed in Germany from 1956 to 1962 . After returning home he met the love of his life, my mom. Together for nearly 60 years and married for 54, they stuck together for better or worse as they vowed on their wedding day. In the early 70's he suffered 2 strokes and the doctors told him he would be paralyzed and never walk again. Dad was the type of guy you didn't tell he couldn't accomplish something if you didn't want to be proven wrong. It took him less than 6 months of hard work and strong will to show them they were wrong. He was diagnosed with his first cancer in the early 80's and again told that things didn't look good. With his will and moms love he baffled another group of doctors. In December we lost mom. She had a major stroke and was taken from us way to soon. Dad handled it as well as anyone could. He was diagnosed with the 5th different cancer in May of this year. After 4 rounds of Kemo he he told us he was too tired to continue. He said he was ready to join mom. On Thursday morning he passed away peacefully. The cause of death is officially cancer, but I think a broken heart was a major factor. Rest in peace, My Father, My Friend.
