Looking For Suggestions

My daughter is a college student out of state and she is looking for some new toys to buy. Since according to the BATFE, she is a resident of the state she goes to school in, she is not limited to the MA roster. She really loves shooting her Rock Island 1911, but is looking for something else for the range and also a concealed carry gun. Can anyone suggest some off list guns that might be worth looking at? I think for carry, she is looking at Glocks, but other than that, I don't know.
