I took some friends to the range and had trouble with the AR short stroking then eventaly faliure to extract, case stuck halfway out and was jamed (had to pull the charge handling while striking the butt on on a hard surface).
Was shooting wolf steel case, newer polymer.

lots of primer pieces with out side diameter equal to hole in bolt.
i just turned my ar into a punch and die.
I've never heard or seen this in my travels.
Of course all the cases were picked up by my friends and tossed.

i found the cuase of the problem, actually two unrelated problems.
soft primers on some previous reloads and under powered wolf

unrelated but the low powered wolf problem brought soft primers to light

i went back to the range an pulled the wolf out of the trash, primer hits were fine.
then i dawned on me. i had shot some reloads last year and had some pierced primers
all cleanned up,I went back to the range, shot the wolf, and had failure to feed
shot some winchester 55grn no problem
shot the reloads i still had left and piecerd primers, and same issuse. lots of little brass bits.
i used standard riffle primers from magtech in that batch.
so what did i learn, 1 use the proper primer, 2 that batch of wolf is weak
