"Local moms band together to fight for gun controls" What a joke.

Thing is, the media will treat them more than holy. They will make it like they have millions of members, and everyone backs them. Goal has much stronger numbers, and the media treats us like we're all crazy.
Which is exactly why you cannot win a PR contest. In MA guns-Я-bad and--apparently all on their own--go out and kill the children. Advocating things that are bad makes you bad. That will not be reversed during your lifetime.

You know what one of my thoughts was in both reading there demands and seeing the video of them. These are the people my daughters would point out as like the simpletons in the show American Blackout we watched who where doomed to perish. These self righteous harps have a concern but haven't even done research to check there facts before speaking.

I really would like to attend this meeting but you're probably right. It would end up making us look even more crazy/bag/evil etc.

Just in case my link doesn't work here is the info...
Today, in a very timely way, Caped Crusader sent me the first
sensible gun-control proposal I’ve seen, when that gets to the heart of
the violence underlying gun crime:
In 1863 a Democrat shot and killed Abraham Lincoln, President of the United States.
In 1881 a left wing radical Democrat shot James Garfield, President of the United States, who later died from the wound.
In 1963 a radical left wing socialist shot and killed John F. Kennedy, President of the United States.
In 1975 a left wing radical Democrat fired shots at Gerald Ford, President of the United States.
In 1983 a registered Democrat shot and wounded Ronald Reagan, President of the United States.
In 1984 James Hubert, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 22 people in a McDonalds restaurant.
In 1986 Patrick Sherrill, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 15 people in an Oklahoma post office.
In 1990 James Pough, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 10 people at a GMAC office.
In 1991 George Hennard, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 23 people in a Luby’s cafeteria.
In 1995 James Daniel Simpson, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 5 coworkers in a Texas laboratory.
In 1999 Larry Asbrook, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 8 people at a church service.
In 2001 a left wing radical Democrat fired shots at the White House
in a failed attempt to kill George W. Bush, President of the US.
In 2003 Douglas Williams, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 7 people at a Lockheed Martin plant.
In 2007 a registered Democrat named Seung – Hui Cho, shot and killed 32 people in Virginia Tech.
In 2010 a mentally ill registered Democrat named Jared Lee Loughner, shot Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and killed 6 others.
In 2011 a registered Democrat named James Holmes, went into a movie theater and shot and killed 12 people.
In 2012 Andrew Engeldinger, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 7 people in Minneapolis.
In 2013 Adam Lazna, the child of a registered Democrat, shot and killed 26 people in a school.
Recently, an angry Democrat shot 12 at a Navy ship yard.
One could go on, but you get the point, even if the media does not. Clearly, there is a problem with Democrats and guns.
No NRA member, Tea Party member, or Republican conservatives are involved.
SOLUTION: It should be illegal for Democrats to own guns.

Its not a joke. I'm not laughing and neither should you.

Its all fine and well to insult and dismiss these people as uninformed and misguided frauds, but that's the problem - all we do is insult and dismiss them.

Let's not forget that in Massachusetts, the uninformed, the apathetic and the opportunistic are the 3 most powerful interests that keep the wrong people in power, those people pass laws to appease bases like this and thusly threaten our rights.

Its time we were a little more in their faces and be assertive. People in the area should be at that library arguing, respectfully, for our cause.

Speaking of ItsTime, perhaps it is time to move the ball forward and openly challenge these people to show up at a public meeting space, to be covered by reporters, social media and ask them to converse, discuss and debate with us. Pick the most articulate members of the movement to go head to head with them, calmly and without emotion.

The only way to win this fight is to control the message. Moms Demand Action has the ball and the momentum.

What's the next play, guys?

I agree with the above poster. Many of these people mean well, if you could at least steer them away from ban X Y amd Z, and towards hey, why do these people never get locked up for shooting eachother on the street, they will refocus their energy. Id also politely invite them all to a basic safety course in the interest of objectivity. Afterall, you came to their meeting a listened politely to what they had to say...

Respectfully disagree. Here are the murder stats for Wenham http://www.city-data.com/city/Wenham-Massachusetts.html There haven't been any murders (by firearms or otherwise) since at least 2002. These ladies are not interested in facts or discussions. If they should be speaking with anyone it should be a psychiatrist to discuss their anxiety issues. I don't believe anyone will be able to change their minds although I wouldn't fault anyone for trying. JMHO

Being a (soon to be) mom who carries, I'm glad I don't live in MA. Seriously don't want to be lumped with the screaming 'gun control' moms in any way.

I understand, and have seen those stats - I think a lot of it is well meaning people who were freaked out by what happened in Newtown and doubly freaked out by the media, who made it like there was a school shooter in every town....not unlike when Bush went and made it like there was Al Qaeda on every plane, ready to kill us because we like Starbucks and tittie bars.

The problem is this - much like when Cindy Sheehan used the body of her son to make a name for herself, they'll use these kids as a means to get something accomplished, without ever knowing what the hell it is they're doing or who they're affecting (us). I'd rather get in front of them and take control of the message, rock the mic and win the day with rational thinking and verbiage as opposed to empty sloganeering.

I agree with you re: controlling the message and really everything you're saying. I just wonder what percent of people's minds could be changed at these events? Looking at these 3 ladies and reading their interviews, they appear to be lost causes. Brainwashed and delusional beyond repair.

Stay at home moms who live in affluent communities need a hobby. Apparently yoga, play dates and Pinterest aren't enough these days.

One thing people need to understand is that these types never get worried walking to their cars or when they hear someone in their backyard at 2am. They have been thoroughly insulated from regular society for so long that they still believe that the police will save them. The media helped them forget about the Petit family in CT but reinforces the Sandy Hook tragedy daily. Is it any wonder that they focused their energy in the direction they did.

They probably won't allow guns in their homes until their neighbor is raped on her kitchen floor while her husband bleeds out from a chest wound.

all from elitist little Wenham.

I wouldnt call Wenham an Elitist town. Its small, and 98 pct single family residences, some old money ( old yankee republicans who hunt and own guns), but mostly working professionals who buy homes there because of the good school system. It aint Brookline or Cambridge. Most poeple mind their own business.

Its Just some bored liberal soccermoms, like any suburb, acting up.
These gals would be shocked if they knew just how many LCT A holders live among them. There is even a nice gun club or two in next door Hamilton.

Everyone who is taking cheap shots against these women should remember this is a public forum and anyone can grab quotes from the postings on here. It will be ammunition for them. The best way to shut them down is counter the hysteria with facts, not about how they look or how they aren't getting any action. It just makes us look like knuckle dragging mouth breathers.
Be smart not insulting.

I think someone, preferably a female, should show up with a suitcase full of sex toys and starts addressing the group as if it were a home toy party. "Here you have the Hitachi Wand; this beauty will take care of the most stubborn anxiety problem you're having"

[rofl]

A little detective work shows that JoAnn Vizziello works for the Administration for Children & Families at the Department of health & Human Services. i wonder if they have any influence on her advocacy. Maybe, maybe not.

So who is going to their meeting to discuss "commonsense" gun laws?

A bunch of bored suburban moms.

“Gun violence kills more than 30,000 Americans every year, including more than 2,800 children and teenagers — that’s nearly eight kids a day, an entire classroom of kids every three days,” she said in a statement

Do they not realize most of these "teenagers" are thugs who kill each other. A teenager:
