Load recommendation for a TC " New Englander "

Gonna give ML deer hunting a try next week and I borrowed a TC " New Englander " .50 cal smooth bore . Anyone have any trigger time with this rifle ? and what powder charge ( gonna go with 777 , I have it on hand ) .Also patched round ball , minni ball , or sabot pistol bullets . Thanks

For smoothbore it's round ball.
90 grains of pyrodex always worked well in my smoothbore renegade
