The following is the list of Massachusetts Senators that DID NOT sign the request made to Attorney General Maura Healy, on July 23, 2016, to rescind her decision, made on July 20, 2016, to change the previously existing interpretation of the Massachusetts Assault Weapons Ban. The information contained in this document is intended to provide residents and law abiding gun owners of the commonwealth with contact information for their senators and representatives to voice concerns, and so that gun owners and Second Amendment supporters will no longer be deceived into giving these politicians votes, or support, so long as they remain supportive of this unconstitutional action or others like it.

Please distribute this list electronically or on paper to any individuals, businesses, clubs, gun shows ect. that are affected by this decision or those who believe in our constitutional rights

Per both of my reps they simply missed the letter and oppose the AGs action.... Cannot hurt to call Scaccia and Rush but they sound like they are with us.

4 posts in, and joined this month. welcome to NES and +1 to you for this data. Neither my rep nor senator signed. Senator is a flaming moonbat, rep may play ball. we'll see

Glad to hear you called them. I really hope what they are saying is true. If they really did miss it, I wonder what they thought we were all gathered outside of the State House for on Saturday?

Rep. Micelli is our friend also, isn't he? The more names we can get on that letter, the better. If we can get it up to 67, it will represent a full third of the legislature. I think that would be quite the rebuke to Healey.

It's important to put the pressure on them. Let them know that they won't receive your vote or your support if they don't play ball. Tell them that you will distribute this list to everyone you can to make sure that others aren't voting for or supporting them either.

I spoke to Senator Rush's office, and as mentioned above, he is with us. Their excuse was the letter went out too fast, but he's signing another letter circulating (Fernandez). She mentioned calling the AG's office to which I pointed out people were getting nasty responses from them. She pointed out that they're probably a little flustered because they aren't used to taking these types of calls because Maura was legislating. :)

Also spoke to Rep John Roger's office. Much more tepid, he's still apparently trying to interpret whether or not she legislated or not (ie, which is the safest move for me right now), so those of us in Norwood and his part of Walpole need to keep calling his office. She was sympathetic but non-committal. If he doesn't come around then I urge you to support Tim Hempton if he runs again, as he has already voiced his support for the letter.

I got a response from Sen. Rush today. Maybe he will put pressure to have something done via the legislature.

Thank you for your recent email regarding the Attorney General’s recent directive.

I have always been a strong protector of our 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] Amendment rights, and as with you, I have issues with the Attorney General’s directive relative to the state’s assault weapons law. Regardless on where you stand on the on the issue of gun rights vs. gun control, we can probably agree that any change in law should be addressed, and voted on, by the Legislature after a full debate in which we can take into account the views of the constituency we represent.

I will keep you updated on the progress on how we intend to address this issue, please do not hesitate to contact my office if we can be of any further assistance.

Rep. Micelli is our friend also, isn't he? The more names we can get on that letter, the better. If we can get it up to 67, it will represent a full third of the legislature. I think that would be quite the rebuke to Healey.

I've been wondering about Miceli, too. He was trying to put forth the bill that prevents towns from creating patchworks of law like the Lexington stuff, if I recall. I was surprised he wasn't on there but assumed he didn't get a chance to sign.

I'm lucky that Shaunna is my state Rep. I'm unlucky that Pacheco is my Senator. :(

Already was in contact with both early last week.

There are a few people on that list that are generally Pro 2A. I am wondering if the letter was rushed and not everyone had a chance to sign.

Tim Maddens office said they weren't sure of his position, that he's out of district.[rolleyes] He'll be back for Saturdays session.
Bunch of these reps must be in Philly I'm assuming.

Tom Sannicandro is supporting Healey. His minion's response to me was basically to take my tinfoil hat off and that we need to get these "weapons of war" off our street. Consider him actively working against us.

Anyone have a generic email template to send out? I'd love to blast a group email out to them all but am not good at formating something like that in a way that looks legit/professional.

Thanks

lol ask him for what reason do police need a special exemption to possess "weapons of war"

Their email accounts are probably flooded right now. Calling them at their offices is your best bet. Don't forget to call Gov. Charlie "One Term" Baker either. His number is 617-725-4005. If you guys can, post this at your gun clubs, ranges, gun stores, other forums you might be a part of ect. Make sure this gets to anyone that is affected so they know exactly who to call. For those that don't change their tune, remember this come election time, or when you get those annoying calls asking for contributions.

what legislation do you know of passed the same day voted on.

So I've been in communication with my state rep and senator. I need some quick feed back. Can you give me some examples of legislation that was submitted, voted on, and signed very quickly. Are there any examples of same day or over two days? I need some examples quickly.

Also, I recently received an email back with a letter that Rep. Parisella had signed onto that was sent to the AG. Here is the letter. has anyone seen this?

Re: Assault Weapon Ban Enforcement Directive

Dear General Healey:

This letter is written in follow up to the Assault Weapon Ban Enforcement Directive issued by your office on July 20, 2016. We are sure that you can understand that we have been contacted by many constituents questioning the validity and substance of your action. In order to properly assess that action, respond to the inquiries, and make our own determinations as to whether legislative action is needed or appropriate, we would appreciate clarification on the following points:

1. The exact constitutional and/ or statutory basis that authorizes your action.

2. The exact statutory provisions that you rely upon to deem the weapons described as copies or duplicates as being prohibited.

3. Whether this action expands upon, or overturns actions or directives taken or issued by any of your predecessors.

4. Whether the standards you set out as to what is a copy or duplicate weapon, the Similarity Test and Interchangeability Test are contained within Massachusetts law directly or by incorporation of the former federal law, or are otherwise developed through case law or by your office.

5. Whether there is a list of the weapons previously believed to be Massachusetts compliant that are not so by application of your Directive, which list is available to the public.

6. Whether the possession and/ or private sale of now non-compliant weapons, which weapons were owned by private citizens in good faith prior to July 20, 2016 now violate the law.

7. If the possession and/ or private sale of the same does violate the law, whether the decision you have incorporated in your advisory that you will not take enforcement action against the private possession and/ or sale of such now non-compliant weapons, which weapons were owned by private citizens in good faith prior to July 20, 2016 is binding upon all law enforcement agencies or personnel such that private citizens have a certainty of safe harbor for such possession and/ or sale now and in the future.

8. Is there a means to determine exactly how many of the now non-compliant weapons owned prior to July 20, 2016, which will now have safe harbor, exist in Massachusetts and who owns them today, and if so, whether such owners receive clarification as to the status of the weapons.

9. By what means will a private citizen in possession of such a safe harbored weapon demonstrate that the safe harbor rights if questioned as to possession of the same by an officer or upon questioned as to possession or sale.

It may be that you have provided the information requested above through various communications. If so, it is requested that you collect that into a single response and provide it to us for evaluation. In addition, it would be helpful if you could arrange a legislative briefing on the Directive to further develop the details of the matter and the execution of the same as it impacts the citizens of Massachusetts.

Naughton didn't sign. Should we be surprised?

The "upskirt" picture legislation was passed in about a day, if I recall correctly!

Confirmed!
Bill was signed into law on Friday 3/7/14 two days after SJC made their decision!
Lawmakers hastily drew up and passed the bill Thursday, a day after the state's highest court ruled that current laws against secretly photographing a person in a state of partial nudity don't apply to these sorts of secretive shots.

It doesn't need to be professional. Keep it simple and spell check. We're not lawyers, were the voting public.
