One of the aspects of non-light bearing kydex holsters that I appreciate is the solid retention around the trigger guard. When holstering there is an audible click as trigger guard pushes the kydex briefly to the side and holds the pistol in place more securely than friction alone. I recently found that some rail mounted weapon lights kinda ruin this. I picked up a Streamlight TLR-7A to mount to a Glock 19 and a T-rex Ironside holster. The TLR-7A is flat, giving nothing for the holster to bite into for added retention. This makes the holster retention friction only and it doesn't feel as securely retained as its non-light bearing equivalent.

Is this par for the course with minimalist IWB/OWB kydex light bearing holsters? Are there better result with other less-flat lights like the Surefire X300 without increasing bulk with a true retention holster like a Safariland ALS or a thumb break design?
