Just goes to show that primaries are not necessarily indicative of the general election. The people who vote in primaries tend to be more radical than those who vote in the general election. That is, the democrats more to the left and the republicans more to the right. The result is that at times the major parties nominee is too far to one extreme or the other to do well in the general election.

Well, the Democratic Party has pretty much lost any control it had over Lieberman before, so if he should go on to win, at the very least he'll be a thorn in their side for six more years.

I hope Lieberman kicks his ass. And then puts the screws to the demonrats. They screwed him, soon it'll be time for him to screw back.

Jim,

I think that Lieberman has more character than that. I don't think he's going into this to get revenge, but will do the best job he thinks appropriate for his constituents. We may not agree with him much, but he comes across as a respectable and likable person.

I hope so Len but I see no reason for him not to put the screws to them. They deserve it after they screwed him over.

I think that is the reason he is doing so well, he does have character and is an honorable man. Probably most people in Connecticut see this and are sticking with him.

Be careful what you wish for!

Do you really want him to turn into another Christy Mihos?

I would hope not!

I think he has too much integrity for that.

Unlike many politicians, Lieberman seems to be a thoughtful, honorable man who tries to do the right thing. I doubt he will be vengeful against the Dems.

As usual the NYT is downplaying the lead of a candidate they don't like. Lieberman has been well ahead of Lamont since the primary. In fact, 8% is the lowest of the many polls showing him ahead. The highest is 20%, but that's by the now laughable Zogby. The Real Clear Politics average for Lieberman is 12.4%. Not a runaway, but probably insurmountable for Lamont.

Leiberman should, but won't caucus with the Republicans. He won't because he is a honorable person. He will caucus with the Democrats, which they cynically knew when they backed Lamont. For them, it's a no lose situation.
