If you thought license plate cameras were bad, take a gander at this beast by the Mass State Police. This thing rolled along the marathon route about 30 seconds ahead of the men leaders. It has an array of directional microphones on the top and the roof rack is lined with video cameras pointing in all directions. Zoom in to see them. I wonder if this stuff was being analyzed in real time or recorded "just in case"...

Given MA's laws about *audio* recording, I have to wonder if this thing complies with our wiretapping laws.

The mic's are so powerful it can single out a silent-but-deadly fart with pin point accuracy.

You have been warned you crop dusters...

Now you'll get stopped if any words on your plate are covered or obscured.

I'd get ticketed all the time, with the word constitution taped over on my license plate.

I believe that the cruiser shown above is equipped with the "shot-spotter" system. The mics listen for gun shots, and they can tell where the sound came from by when it hits each microphone. They can distinguish between gun shots and firecrackers.

I don't know if they record audio in the vocal ranges.

    Recent case law on this.

Covers are no longer per se illegal, but you can still get gigged if the plate numbers are obscured or if the reflective nature of the plate is impeded.

In Typical fashion, the LA Times is late to catch on:

That's pretty much it. I have no problem with a the Cameras checking a preloaded database for stolen vehicles and wanted person connected to vehicles. But as soon as you start logging where you see my car is where I have a problem.

This is pretty much old news now... If you want to find out just how closely big brother is watching you/me/everyone and can find you anywhere/anytime etc? Just steal a couple of Glocks from a State Police armory, or maybe send a threatening tweet to Chelsea (or any) Clinton, or call Frau Heel-ee's office voicemail and leave a "bigoted" or "homophobic" threatening message, etc etc....Or, for much faster results (and proof), just call a mosque and tell em to shove an Akhbar up their effin flagpole.

"Big Brother" will be all over you like flies on sh*t before you even log off or hang up the phone.

    Just sayin'
