Liberal Manhattan Legislator Proposes Infiltrating the NRA With Gun Control Backers

That link needs a not safe for eyeballs warning.

On a more serious note, this has been changed before. That's why the NRA adopted a rule many years ago that you must be a member for five years before you can vote for Board of Directors. It would be prohibitively expensive to pay for enough members for that period of time in the hope that they can sway the direction of the Association.

Are we quite sure the NRA wasn't infiltrated years ago?

Or conversely, are we quite sure (for lack of a better word) she isn't an NRA infiltrator in the liberal camp, trying to jinn up memberships for NRA?

(MassPete, you should be negged for that "She's Hot" comment. How may eyes must die?)

Funny.

Every single one of us saw "she's hot!!!" and clicked the link immediately, before we even bothered to scroll down.

Rick Rolled hard.

The NRA elections are generally rigged so it is impossible for someone who is not endorsed by the nominating committee can win. Furthermore, NRA members do not vote on organizational policy. So all infiltration will do is boost membership count and the treasury.

Although run legitimately, the NRA ballot basically comes with instructions on who to vote for, and enough members are sheep and do what they are told. Even Jim Wallace and Mike Yacino (on separate occasions) with their record of accomplishment didn't stand a chance since the leadership did not choose them to win.

Many of the NRA board members are elected as window dressing rather than for their leadership skills (your chances of getting "nominating committee endorsement" goes WAY up if you are a household name. For all practical purposes, the real NRA election held by that committee.

I am a mole working for Bloomberg *Heil Bloomberg* I've concluded that the NRA will be difficult to defeat because it is funded by millions of common folk, whereas our organization is funded by smaller amounts of elites and soccer moms and hipsters that don't have a dime to donate to us anyway.

We should just infiltrate the gun control groups and waste their money.

The ultimate troll would be to infiltrate and get them to lobby for a ban on "Phased plasma rifles in the 40-watt range".

Another know nothing speaking before she knows anything about how the NRA operates.

The exact same thing when groups of hysterical women e.g. Every town for gun safety .
frightened housewives who don't know bullet from shell ,
dictating firearm law.

It's not even the funding that makes the NRA strong. It's the fact that there are millions of people behind them that share a common core belief in a specific civil right. Many people may disagree on specifics, but everyone agrees on the core principal. That's why Michael Bloomberg can spend more in a single year on anti crap than the NRA spends in 20 years on lobbying and the pro-gun side still makes significant gains.

A lot of antis try to make it sound like the NRA is the voice of the gun companies and just want to make money for those companies. Well it takes two to tango and common folk are buying their guns as much as they want to sell them to us. Usually you'll hear something along the lines of "greedy corporate bigwigs fund the NRA" to which I respond that I donate to the NRA and local gun rights groups, signed petitions, and contacted local reps. I can probably find a few million common people that do the same.

Fortunately most antis don't really donate to their own cause. They just make stupid memes or repost something from HuffPo

Yeah, it all stems from the fundamental idea of theirs that the government/society should take care of things so they don't take personal initiative to address anything. One time there was talk about cutting government funding to PBS, and all my friends around MA were talking about how it was a travesty that the money was being taken away. I said "ok, we are you going to up your annual donation? You obviously are already a donor if you care so much." Nope, none of them were donors and still none have donated, but I have given money to WGBH to support programs I liked.

Once my father told me that the difference between a fiscal conservative and a fiscal liberal was that the former didn't think it was a good idea to hire someone to spend money on programs the person supports. If you care about something, contribute money/time/voice don't expect the next guy to do it for you.

Exactly. The anti-freedom crowd are either socialists, statists, or communists. They are perfectly happy to spend someone else's money on causes they believe in, but their own money?? "That's mine!"

That is voluntary. Voluntary means free will. Their minds would explode if they had to make a decision on their own. It's easier for them to have big brother come along, tax you, and use the money for whatever THEIR administration deems necessary.

If everyone took initiative to stand up for their neighbor, do what is right, and speak up when needed, we wouldn't have so much government intervention. Instead, people would rather duck our heads down or record a wrong doing to post it on Worldstarhiphop and then complain about how the world is messed up.

One day when I was in middle school we had a substitute teacher on a power trip, ripping into a kid who she "thought" she recognized and remembered was a trouble maker (pretty sure the woman was just delusional). After she finally loses it and sends him to the office, straight up lieing about the reason, I (meekly) bring it to her attention that the kid wasn't trying to start trouble and she just says "yeah I know" and turns around and starts to walk away.

After standing up, correcting her on how to properly have a conversation, and explaining to her (now at full volume because she didn't care to listen to me say it nicely) that she had lied and written the kid up for no reason she says "Well I am the teacher and if I say to jump off a bridge then you jump." Then she goes on to threaten me that she would write me up to if I didn't stop it right now. I told her "I am willing to put my reputation on the line but are you sure you are willing to put yours up against mine? I have a feeling they aren't going to believe you." So she pretended to back down and get back on topic, wrote me up without telling me ...... and got fired. Out of 30 kids saying "thats not right, and someone should do something" only one kid was willing to say anything? Lovely generation of newly minted MA liberals...

In high school I had an english teacher who would conduct surveys of the class "anonymously" but all the students were afraid of reprisal if they didn't praise what he did and blow smoke up his butt. Well he walked out of the room, and I asked people if they were going to write the same stuff they had complained to me about just the other week, nope too afraid. I told them that the teacher isn't going to do anything to them, and they asked "how do you know? You can read his mind?" I responded "No, but I have been signing and printing my name on mine and he hasn't said shit to me yet!" [rofl]
