would something as nice as this piece be able to be owned in MA?

http://ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=122&t=366085

its about 2/3 the price of the one for sale at ZHA

and also...is it true that if i could find a preban ar15 lower out of state, that i could have it sent to a ffl here as long as the serial # proved it was a preban gun?? i got into an arguement with a friend about it...i thought the gun had to already have been registered in MA and he says that as long as it was manufactured before '98 it could shipped to an ffl here...this may belong in the gun laws forum or may have been discussed before but i just wanted to kill 2 birds with 1 stone

IIRC, you can have ANY lower shipped to an FFL here. It's the features on the upper that will determine weather or not is is legal here.

That particular gun?.... no, the muzzle threads would have to be permanently covered over, either by sliver soldering/welding a muzzle cap or muzzle brake.

You could get around that by having the seller either have the threads covered over before he ships it, or have him remove the pistol grip and ship the rifle to an FFL. You take posession of it from the FFL, have the threads covered over, then install a pistol grip. Thing is try finding an FFL here that would be willing to side step the law like that.

Pre-ban AWs, stripped lowers and magazines can be shipped to and sold by any MA FFL.

Pre 98 'off the list' handguns can only be sold by an FFL if they were registered in MA before the 98 cut-off date. Any pre-98 (off list or not), can be sold by an individual. Basically, the only way to get a pre-98 off list (not registered in MA), handgun is if someone from out of state moves to MA with it and sells it to you FTF.

There are C&R exceptions, but that's another subject.

Yes... unless the seller is paranoid about the sale.

FWIW, you might want to conduct a little research before you buy. Myself, I've never heard of "MDL AES" (AK47 reviews doesn't even list it http://www.ak-47.us/gear/AK47_Review.php). A quick search on AKforum.net turned up this (same rifle/seller), it doesn't look good (then again, it's someone elses opinion). Let the buyer beware.

"AES10 Any one tried one of these?

Just curious, have seen these in adds for a few months, but have not heard of anyone trying one. Anyone actually seen one of the guns or tried it? Any idea if the extra barrel length helps in performance?

This vendor has some pictures of one.

"their junk in my opinion"

"Dieter122

Thanks, haven't been able to find anyone who has (or will admit to having) seen one or shot one. Sort of looks like a WASR10 w/long skinny barrel, carry handle (a-la FAL) and a RPK style stock. Didn't know if they would shoot or not. My experience with WASR's has been that they function ok, they don't look to good, but they work and with a scope I can do ok out to 200, gets little more difficult at 300, forget 400 and 500, even with scope I'm having to aim way to high. Thought the extra barrel length might give the bullet an extra 300-400 fps that might boost the range a tad."

"those are wasr10s. the have a long ass barrel and different stock. ive seen them b4. complete junk".

"I saw one at a local show a few months ago, its a hack job alright.

"its like someone had a spare parts bin and just started welding everything together into one big clump and called it a rifle".

"Long skinny barrelled wsar with a welded door hinge looking carry handle. big bad bubba boom stick."

That's probably a pre-ban, and you're right... that is too much (price of living
in a ban state).

Edit to add: Just checked, you can get the same rifle NIB (without scope), for $499.00 at Aim Surplus or
Centerfire Systems, however, I'm not 100% certain, but I think both companies might have a policy about not shipping to MA (even to an FFL).
