I just purchased a 4 die Lee carbide pistol set. I will be using an RCBS bench powder drop kit. My question is, Can I omit the powder through expanding die, since I won;t be in need of using the supplied powder dipper?

You need something to bell the case before you seat the bullet. Do you have some other belling die?

jasons is correct, the "powder die" is the die that does the bell mouth operation, an important step.

Lee's 4 die set usually is the one where they separate the bullet seating from the crimping operation.

So, unless you have something else to do the bell mouth operation you'll use each die sequentially.
