24-year-old Joshua Watson was no stranger to police. His rap sheet includes more than a dozen arrests dating back to his juvenile years. Most of the charges are drug related. A few are for robbery and various traffic violations.

But Knoxville police say his crime spree turned deadly Monday night when he and another man broke down the door of a Colonial Drive home wielding guns and demanding dope and cash.

"During the scuffle one of the suspects fired one round," said Darrell DeBusk, KPD spokesman.

Homeowner, Jonathan Franklin was hit at least once. Police say his wife, Jamie, took action, grabbing a gun.....

Wonder what would would have been the outcome if the firearm was "securely locked" as required here in the peoples republic of ma**h***s?

that is, uh, part of the ongoing investigation.

It would read something like "Homeowner, wife and child shot dead in home invasion. 2 suspects on the loose; police are looking for answers."

You know we don't encourage self help here..just call the police and they will file the reports and call the coroner.

It would read something like "Homeowner, wife and child shot dead by poor misled individual who just needs a hug, in home invasion. 2 people in need of counseling are on the loose; police are looking for answers."
