Knives you always wanted but never bought

This handsome hunting knife remains my favorite. It's only $10 at Walmart.

How might one go about using that defensively? Intuitively I imagine more stabbing motions than slashing like that design suggests.
It's intended for slashing mostly. Much the the Karambit's, which are intended for locking up and slashing limbs. Nasty, nasty results.
 
In the same family, this is my favorite. Truly rust-proof blade.

How might one go about using that defensively? Intuitively I imagine more stabbing motions than slashing like that design suggests.
Many trainers discourage stabbing in self-defense, in part because while eventually lethal, by the time your attacker realizes he is mortally wounded, so are you.
