Thankfully she will never get the nomination to run for the Presidency. One thing though. She could run as the Vice-President (heh-heh! I said vice) and if Creepy Joe gets in and dies she would get on top. She like being on top and in control, pun intended.

It's not what you think it is, it's much worse...

"The House passed legislation on Thursday reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) over objections from the National Rifle Association and Republicans who say it will restrict gun rights by preventing people convicted of stalking or abusing dating partners from buying a gun.

Thirty-three Republicans opted to break party lines and vote for the bill backed by Reps. Karen Bass (D-Calif.) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.), the only GOP lawmaker to co-sponsor it.

Rep. Collin Peterson (D-Minn.) was the sole Democrat to vote against the measure, which passed 263-158.

“I was disappointed that the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) Reauthorization was made partisan with the inclusion of language that would strip individuals’ right to due process with respect to their 2nd Amendment rights," Peterson said in a statement to The Hill.

Congress had allowed VAWA, which provides funding and grants for a variety of programs that tackle domestic abuse, to lapse in February when it was omitted from a massive spending bill ending a partial government shutdown.

Bass argued it’s past time for Congress to modernize the law, which was first passed in 1994.

“This is our opportunity to respond to the basic needs of victims and survivors everywhere, absent discrimination based on their race, sex, religion or nationality,” she said during debate.

Current law forbids firearm purchases for spouses or formerly married partners convicted of abuse or under a restraining order, but VAWA’s new language expands that restriction to include dating partners who were never legally married, eliminating the so-called boyfriend loophole."

If an 'old, white man' (Biden, Bernie), gets the nomination, guaran-f***ing-teed there's going to be a lot of pressure and arm
twisting to nominate Harris for the VP slot.

They want their 1'st female President/Vice President so bad (even better when that female is a POC),
that they'll stop at nothing to get it.

That's scary shit! It might not be a boyfriend. It could very well be an adult son or daughter coming back to stay with a parent temporarily while going through a divorce. If that person has a 209A against them and the parent has a gun in the house, that situation could easily be a violation of Lautenberg, which is a federal felony.

Further, if she really said that, basically shes saying "we need to take something thats already illegal (the idea of furnishing a gun to a known prohibited person) and make it more illegaler!!!! BWEAAAAAAH!" yeah that'll fix the problem. Double plus ungood extra felonies for everyone! [rofl]

I was there today. She never actually said anything about AR-15s. She only used the phrase "assault weapons" and said she would ban their import. Wasn't that done back in 1986?

"Harris' new proposal "would ban AR-15-style assault weapon imports because they are not 'suitable for or readily adaptable to sporting purposes.' Additionally, the Harris proposal would have the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives suspend all assault weapons imports until the agency studies and determines admissibility under the "sporting purpose" test, said the Harris official."

Man, I feel kind of dumb!

I don't remember where I had seen a proposal that was very similar to what I was describing. Anyway, as far as the "boyfriend loophole" goes; two things: 1.) various state law definitions of domestic violence includes "intimate partners" i.e. those who are in a substantial dating relationship. 2.) as far as stalking goes, persons who are subject to an active restraining order are already prohibited from firearms possession (at least in MA, and probably in most other states). So again, where is the "boyfriend loophole"?

If it were possible to ban the import of "assault" weapons via executive order, I think Obama would've done that while he was in office.

This is just paying lip service to a base that knows less than nothing about guns or gun laws.

Wait... I thought discrimination was bad. Doesn’t that make assault weapons good?
