Son got called by hampden county while at umass last year. He had served in Middlesex the year before so they let him off.
 
Happens all the time. If you are living on campus, you are considered a resident of that county for the time you are there, so you are required to seve jury duty if summoned.

We get many students in Hampshre district Court who come from all over Mass., but since they are living on campus at U-Mass or Smith or any of the other colleges in the area, they must report for jury duty.

Hmmmm.... off-topic thread drift coming....

So if you live in a red town, but while attending college, you are a resident of that college town... and if it is a green town... apply for your LTC from there... when you move back home for the summer, you need to send your letters, but if you did that twice each year, you'd meet the requirements of the law...
