Joe Biden's pick to head the ATF David Chipman was confronted by Republican senators during his confirmation hearing Wednesday

There is a difference between Republicans and Demorats. With the Democrats it's like being shot in the head. With the Republicans it's like getting hit in the knee with a bat. Neither choice is good. Just somewhat less bad then the other.

Clean death or torture? That's a hard choice.

For those who don't know. Vicky was shot as she held her baby.

The FBI sniper, Lon Horiuchi, killed Vicki Weaver on Aug. 22, 1992, as she was standing in the doorway of the family cabin in northern Idaho, holding her baby daughter. Horiuchi said he was aiming at Harris, who was fleeing into the house from the sniper's first shot, and did not see Vicki Weaver.

Horiuchi was charged with involuntary manslaughter by use of a firearm in a reckless, careless or negligent manner. Woodbury said he fired the fatal shot through the front door "without first determining whether any person other than his intended target was behind the door."

The accusation paralleled the findings of a special Justice Department task force, which concluded several years ago that Horiuchi "needlessly and unjustifiably endangered the persons he thought might be behind the door."

And when he was asked if he would take the shot again , he said "Yes "

Breaking: Biden has pulled back Chipman's nomination. Woohoo! Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

White House to withdraw nomination of David Chipman to head ATF in face of bipartisan pushback over his gun-control advocacy

"The White House is planning to withdraw David Chipman’s nomination to run the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives this week amid bipartisan pushback over his gun control advocacy, according to two people with knowledge of the decision.

President Biden nominated Chipman, who worked at ATF for more than two decades before joining the gun control group led by former congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.), in April as part of a larger effort to curb gun violence.
The White House declined to comment. The officials spoke on the condition of anonymity to speak freely about the nominee."

That is all good, But don't count the chickens before they hatch.

How do you figure??? If a BIPARTISAN group poo-poo'd his nomination, why do you think a WORSE candidate will get nominated next??? There are some purple-state Dems who are fearing for their seats right now. They boned the country with the stimulus back in February/March. They are being pressured to pass this 3T abomination. Anything else to rock the boat ensures they don't get re-elected and the Biden Administration can't offer them anything in return because they hold NO power.

This tells us that this Congress is not polarized enough to confirm an activist gun control freak to lead a neutral Federal enforcement branch.

The Federal court quickly quashed that state indictment on the basis of a state cannot charge a federal agent with a crime when he is just following orders when he kills.

Even some Dems know give a fanatic control of guns is a bad idea

The next one will be worse because it will be someone no one's ever heard of, who has no baggage and no public track record--but with exactly the same intentions, or worse.

Chipman was a trial balloon. He was the feint, setting up the knockout punch.

It wasn't a coincidence that the White House announced it this morning, before setting up national outrage with an entirely new controversy over vaccine mandates.

Bill Clinton's first term as governor of Arkansas got him booted because there were only two controversial issues. One (which he had no control over) was the placement of Cuban Mariel refugees at Fort Chaffee, a federal military installation. The other was doubling license plate fees from $18 to $36. While the Cubans made more news, the registration caused much more voter outrage.

When he returned to office in 1982, he had learned his lesson: don't give your opponents one or two easy things to focus on. Keep them dodging from topic to topic so much that there's no one thing to focus on. He even skated on having sex with an intern in the Oval Office, when there was serious evidence that he and his wife had engaged in shady real estate dealings and commodity futures trading, so that strategy works!

That strategy has been well practiced by many since then. Taking them down is like winning 3 Card Monte against a dealer who is juggling chainsaws at the same time.

"In an Oct. 15 memorandum, Deval Patrick, the Assistant Attorney General in charge of the civil rights division, said that when the sharpshooter fired the fatal shot, the agents had a reasonable belief that their lives were in danger. Agents had not intentionally used excessive force, the memorandum said."

You can also worry if it's our former Governor since he defended the sniper when he worked for Janet Reno.
