The youngster next door (mid-60s or so), after using his snowblower to clean his own driveway, cleaned mine, too. Didn't even ask, he just did it. I'm grateful but, dang, it felt funny as hell to be sitting on my butt while somebody else was doing my work.

I wasn't worried about a few inches of snow. The missus and I each have a 4x4 with winter tires--we just drive through it. I'll sweep off the steps and the cars after lunch.

Some of us youngsters feel a responsibility to help family and neighbors. I was out bright and early, shoveled my driveway (no snow blower) and then immediately to my parents (70s) and shoveled their house and their cars and parking spaces. Do I qualify to yell at the sky yet?

Is that what I smelled earlier?? I ran the machine to clean up the driveway, and connected area (since the driveway is too small for any additional vehicles besides my truck). Cleared off the truck, used the shovel to clean that up (having some technical issues with the blower) and then cleaned off the deck and stairs going up to it all. Did that before noon. At least it was still cold enough for the snow to NOT turn into lead. Looks like it was about 6" before it started to settle/compact. Looking forward to seeing what we end up getting next weekend. Could be 10-11" total for the weekend. I'll probably just wait to clean it up on Monday. Looking at just over an inch on Thursday.

At least we're FINALLY getting some decent snow fall.

I'll knock down the end of the elderly neighbor's driveway where the plows have dumped it with the snowblower (provided she hasn't already shoveled it clean--she likes the exercise and goes out multiple times to do her whole driveway 1" at a time), and I handle the plow ridge in front of her mailbox. I also apparently am the only one in the neighborhood who ever cleaned around and a path to the nearest hydrant so that now falls on me every time too.

Im like that when my wife shovels the driveway. But I get over it.....[rofl]
Same here !!!!!! 😁

Now wait a damn minute--you mean my wife's been lying to me all these years saying per MGL it's illegal for a woman to use a snow shovel if other options are available?

Not yet, youngster.

Maybe this was karma for when I cleaned the other neighbor's gutters. They're in their 80s and were quoted $375 for the job. I climbed my ladder, and the neighbor lady picked up the tons of leaves I threw on the ground. Took us less than an hour.

I am 68 and clear my two long driveways with a couple of 40 year old plow Jeeps. If one breaks down or gets stuck I just move to the other. I have some shoveling to do and that gets harder every year.

I am all by myself in the middle of the woods, no kids to help and only a few distant neighbors that pretty much keep to themselves. I wonder about my future here, but I love my house and where I live. I am going to hang on as long as I can.

I have a blade for the Comanche also. But that one is still registered so I only mount the plow when a bad storm is predicted or when the Cherokee breaks down.

I just finished everything. Deck, walkways, 300 ft driveway, parking area, Tent shed, and some built up snow from previous. @Jenska22 karma'd me a snowblower that needed some work and I used that mostly. Yes I'm 68 and definitely an old fart but if there wasn't so much here I'd probably do neighbors drives.

Cleaned my own driveway with my kubota, don’t mind helping anyone who hasn’t proved themselves to be dicks. The only thing that bothers me about getting old is the pussy willows that grow in my ears & nose, other than that I’m happy to be exceeding my (and anyone else that’s known me a long time) expectations for my lifespan.

technically she is correct, she is banned by law to use a snow shovel.
BUT the legal caveat is: when you come back into the house, she has to be wearing stilleto heels, pushup bustier, and appropriate stockings. holding a martini for you, or course

otherwise the law is negated

I have one neighbor that waits until EVERYONE ELSE is done before he coems out. He finally, after 30 years, bought a snowblower 2 years ago. For a decade or more, he'd wait until the guy across the street came out and then get him to snowblow or plow his driveway.

He got me a couple of times after that guy left.

Then he'd borrow the lady across the street's snowblower. "Hey, I'll do your driveway for you. . . while I'm at it, I'll do mine." Finally, she got sick of it.

THEN he had his BIL come over with his plow for 2 years. But decided to stiff him and not pay.

So he had to go out and get his own snowblower.

Yesterday, like always, he's the last guy out. Just in case someone feels bad and races over to clear his area. LOL

He's not a bad guy. But damn. When it comes to snow, he's looking for an angle every time. ;)

Nice move by the neighbor! At 67 i'm starting to feel old lol but we watch over a few elders ourselves. You are lucky to have someone watching over you!
