[shock] My sister (the liberal) just forwarded this to me:

Subject: A SPECIAL REQUEST

I have a special request. I'm sure many of you are currently writing cards to friends and family. If you can, please send an extra one (or 10, or 20) to our American military heroes who are recuperating from wounds this Christmas Season. Please enclose a short note thanking them for their service and personal sacrifice. They are the protectors of our freedom, we must let them know.

Your small act of kindness will be greatly appreciated.
Here's the address...

A Recovering American Soldier
c/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center
6900 Georgia Avenue, NW
Washington, DC 20307-5001

If you would, please forward this message to your email friends.
==========================================

You folks have NO idea how much shock I'm in right now. My G-d... there may be hope for Susie yet. My war-protesting, Bryn Mawr educated, ban-all-guns SISTER sent me this!!!

I'm gibbering. I'm stunned. I'm wondering when the aliens kidnapped her and substituted whoever sent me that email for her. Hey, Nickle... have you seen any unusual pods up there in the Burlington area?

I'm signing off now... gotta go mail some Christmas cards.

Wow, Ross I don't know what to say. At least she is starting to turn around, Maybe. It's a start. Just look for the pod. [lol]
Might want to check if Walter Reed is accepting card addressed that way.
They might have changed their policy, since they were getting hate mail. Might be like with Alan you have to have the actual name of a person to do it. Just a thought.

I think they did change the policy because of the "PS - Die!" cards they were getting. But you never know...they might have someone opening them first to check them out. One can always hope.

She may be a Liberal, but, she's a Vermont Liberal. They're different than most Liberals. They tend to support the troops, and frequently are NOT Anti-Gun.

A funny thing has happened to many of the Liberals up here. They've come to the conclusion that you may not like the war, but the right thing to do is to support the troops (And not by "bringing them home now").

It's hard to dislike the troops when odds are good that you KNOW a soldier that is currently overseas or has served overseas. When the state has 1 in about every 250 to 300 residents (and that's just the National Guard) serving or has served in Iraq or Afghanistan, odds are good you know one of them.

ETA - When the local news stations support the troops, that works into your thoughts as well.
